The Manual shift boot install, and some spring time pics..
I installed the manual shift boot, and am still waiting for the shift knob. It was extremely easy, 5 minutes max. The cost was is $60 shipped from Trussville Mazda. It is a great improvement over the stock automatic shift plate thingy.
Enjoy the pics. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...4/f95af88e.jpghttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/f95af888.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...5/f95af887.jpghttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/f95af890.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...3/f95af889.jpghttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/f95af88c.jpg Next up, K&N Intake; then followed by clear corners, rotary accents, etc. Troy J. |
It does look better, but it may be confusing for people using your car (ie. friend, valet); since they'll thinks it's a manual and not know where to move it since there's no markings.

wait so thats automatic?
|
It is an auto... look @ the steering wheel paddles. ;) I just installed the manual shift boot, becuase I couldn't stand the ugly plastic shift plate thing. I think it looks a lot better.

just dont glue a clutch pedal down there!!! j/k
nice bmw |
Interesting...
What stopped you from getting the manual in the first place? Doesn't it have more HP than the auto? Traffic hassle? I know sometimes when I sit there in 5 o'clock traffic and my left leg is throbbing I think to myself "I'd kill for an automatic right now" |
Phakin the Phunk...not bad by the way..

BTW, adrian-1, you don't necessarily have to see the markings covered by the boot; just look at the dash, it tells you what gear you are in. |
Oh yeah, forgot it had dash lights.
Sorry, I don't know how to drive automatics. :) |
Nice mod- that looks a million times better than the auto shift gate... much sportier now without the "Camry" look :)

The owner of that 745i made me get the auto (my dad). He pays my insurance, so he made me get it becuase he doesn't trust me in a manual. I eat, talk on the cell phone, etc. so I don't really have time to shift. Otherwise, I would have the manual; I think it is a better deal than getting the auto. But, I am happy with my car, it is better than my last 3 cars because I haven't had any problems with it.
They had a manual, grand touring, Nav, 6-disc on the lot that I was interested in; it was still $3,000 less than my 9-3. I was on the verge of getting it. BUT, my parents saw that it was red, and they said helllll no. Troy J. |
manual shift boot???
Is that just the boot from the '8 6sp manual? What shift knob are you going to install? Looks much better than the stock version. |
