Lebren Rear Accent Light

So as soon as I read about Lebren selling these I pm'd him right away.

After a week or so wait he got it out for me.

Installation is straight forward but working with silicone was a PITA! You have to use the silicon adhesive (which Lebren provides more then enough off) to bond his accent light circuit to the rear of your rotary accent. It was probably a PITA because I might have rushed the installation a bit :shocking:. I did most of that work on the trunk of my car. While that dried I took apart my trunk to get at the grommet that the wire is run through and get at the brake light wiring harness. I have never had luck with wire taps (which Lebren also provides).. and this time around wasn't any different. The damn things wouldn't tap correctly and thus I had no power. To get power to the accent light all that was needed are tapping 2 of the 3 wires running from the brake light wiring harness. Once I verified the lights worked I applied some more silicon adhesive to the other edge of the rotary accent and affixed it into the original mounting location. Was nice and snug and I held it in place for a good 10 minutes to let it dry in position a bit.

I'll let Lebren take over with anything else if he wishes.. but here are my pics.

I want this light.

Lebren 09-11-2009 12:17 AM

Thanks for a great review Al! Some things I'd like to point out: The wire is HIGH TEMP, so not to get burned by hot exhaust shield!
Decal in first pic is not very well visible though is included :)
Tab Splices- place the existing wire first, then push the new wire down till it stops; GRIP DOWN and if you are not Al it will hold tight :) I throw in an extra for a reason.

Instructions in .PDF are complete... though with feedback from Al some minor details will be added.

Good lookin' Al!

legit!

altspace 09-11-2009 06:43 AM

I like it, just wonder how legal it is? Especially since the light is near the ground and it's replacing the 3rd brake light.

\\Konig\\ 09-11-2009 12:47 PM

its not replacing the 3rd brake light! that 3rd brake light in the top middle is unaffected at all by the addition of this light. that light only turns on when the brakes are applied =]

rev8 09-11-2009 01:11 PM

very nice

hmmm, i have always been interested in these. do the lights match the break light color wise, it may be my crappy computer but it seems like the break light appears to have an orange tint. also how much are these...i need to do some more research!! lol

kersh4w 09-11-2009 02:03 PM

i dont have a rear rotor accent anymore.

:P

llzjayarzll 09-11-2009 02:16 PM

looks good, i've always wanted one.

alz0rz 09-11-2009 02:32 PM

They actually match very well.

They are also not as bright as the pictures make them seem. They are most definitely noticeable, each individual LED, but not exceedingly so. It really does stand out. Viewable in daylight too.

Since the acrylic used to house the LEDs has a tinted film on the outside, in the day time it looks like stock for the most part. In my case it is a bit sloppy because I got careless with the silicone so I have some cleanup to do.

I really like it. Big thumbs up to Lebren on a quality product.

Did I mention really well priced too? It is a bit of an involved DIY install though.

Silver_Mazda09 09-12-2009 08:19 PM

nice lights. I like.

SayNoToPistons 09-12-2009 10:14 PM

Nice lights, might consider one for myself.. Are you missing the left license plate screw too? The damn nut in the back fell off in my 8.

alz0rz 09-12-2009 10:35 PM

yeah that happened to mine.. that's why I don't have a left bolt.

the right one holds it in place really well though.
