Thanks, I still have to finish it, I need to cut a hole for the intake pipe and also notch the edge towards the engine for the intake pipe to come through, but I'm going to mount the turbo this weekend and test fit the intake piping before powder coating to get the cuts right.

Thanks Benny, I think to take on a project to this extent you definitely have to be atleast a little bit crazy lol.

Turbo mounting will be fun. Bout damn time I hear you say you are mounting the turbo.

Crossing my fingers for you that everything mounts and fits. I would def. make some room for that wastegate. Need to tune around the area with my favorite tool... the hammer

The BFH is a valuable tool. What are you doing for heat shielding around the turbo? My chassis around the turbo is toasted, I will be removing the turbo to add heat shielding here pretty soon.

Yup sure is, I ended up having to work all weekend but I'm off Wednesday and Thursday so I'm hoping to have everything mounted and test fitted.

The way the turbo sits and the way the wastegate is positioned I'm confident it will fit, but you never know. I guess we'll see what happens lol.

The BFH will definitely have some use I'm sure.

As far as heat shielding goes I'm using DEI Floor and Tunnel Shield(Floor & Tunnel Shield II - Heat & Sound Insulation 050507 | Purchase DEI, CryO2, Ny-Trex, Boom Mat & SPA Turbo Products | Design Engineering, Inc. - Thermal Performance Products), it says it's rated to 1750 degree direct temps.

I'm also using Insultherm UltraFlexx Pro Sleeving (WireCare.com :: Your Cable Management SuperStore!) it's a really nice braided fiberglass sleeving that I'll be using on the Coolant and Oil Lines, it's rated for 1200 degrees and has a melting point of over 2000 degrees.

Nice. That should work out great. I tried several coats of a high temp paint and it was burnt off in like a week,

Yea should be fine. I also forgot to mention that the Manifold, Downpipe and Turbine Housing are all Ceramic Coated.

Yea the High Temp Paint will do nothing as far as insulating, it's just made to withstand higher temps and not burn off.

What size sheet are you getting for the thermal sleeve?

I am thinking about getting the 21" X 24" (3.5 Sq. Ft.) for my Greddy Kit.

That's what I bought it should be more than enough to shield that area.

Good news is the Turbo is mounted and everything fit initially...

Bad News is, it has to come off again because after clocking the compressor housing the Wastegate actuator doesn't fit properly and is hitting the Chassis. I think I'm going to make the Actuator bracket somewhat adjustable this time around.

Also the intake piping is hitting the Engine Mount bracket so I have to figure out what I'm going to do there.

Are you still using OEM engine mounts or have you switched over to something like the Race Roots bracket? Might provide more room.

This build thread is diamonds.

I'm using OEM mounts filled with polyurethane. I'd build custom mounts before even considering the Raceroots mounts.

Thanks

I should mention that my air filter gets wet in that location when washing the car. You may want to consider a shield on top of it to deflect water.

Can't be any worse than the MS Intake location, even if it's a little wet the filter should be fine. How much water gets through there behind the bumper and air diversion panel?

Seems like good quality stuff. I'm right there with you, my car has been apart since July

you cant rush these things. attention to detail is what has made this build take as long as it has. I am sure Kyle is anxious to drive the car again but slow and precise is how he rolls.

Deadlines have gone out the window at this point, the build has been much more extensive than I had originally thought, and with unexpected delays my timeline has gone out the window multiple times. That said it should be done soon lol

All this hard work is what's going to make your build perfect .
Keep it going and take your time.
I'll be looking forward to see your 8 at Dupont.
