JCrane's First Photoshoot - Feedback Welcome
8 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone. Just had my first photoshoot this past weekend. I am not a photographer, but do have a nice Cannon SLR, so I figured I would take some pictures. I want to pick out 3 or 4 of these and submit them to the Polak Graphics 2013 calendar thread, so let me know which ones you like best. All feedback is welcome.

Looks good man. What camera are you shooting with? The reason I ask is because the pictures look slightly pixelated.
|
Thanks for the compliments.
It is a Cannon SLR that I got from Best Buy about two years ago. I am unsure on what the model is, and I am not at home right now to check. I will check later today and let you know. As for the pixelation, I have been taking pictures on the "small" setting (2500x1666 I think), then I cropped them and resized them for uploading. Hopefully the originals will look better. I am also not using any image software when resizing, so that could also be the issue. Any possibility you would want to take my original and modify it how you see fit with your imaging software? If you do, let me know which image you want to work with. Thanks for the feedback. Jesse |

I bet that's it, I always take pics in the best quality and ;largest size the camera can do and then use software to reduce them or when I share them I use flikr to reduce it to the size I want to share. Even when I save and edit them from here they still have pixelated edges. Email the 5th pic at networkplus.scott@gmail.com

Nice pics! I like all of those, but i think i will pick the first 3.
|
is she a NG? looking good. learn how to do bracketing then come back with some HDR images. With the Fall scenery you posted, some HDR images would be unfugginbelievable.
|
I am using a Canon EOS 500D DSLR (EOS Rebel T1i) with a 55-250 mm lens.

Yep, she is Nordic Green. Yeah I am a real noob about imagining software. Maybe I will see if I can redo some of these within the week at a higher resolution.

Quick and dirty.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/9krpmrx8/8065493123/ And a sig pic :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/9krpmrx8/8065493123/ Do you have a tripod? It makes a world of difference too. |
Wow 9k that sig came out looking very nice :)
and as for my favorite of the pics, the 5th one is my favorite the view is incredible. Good looking NG by the way. |
So I guess I really screwed myself when I took these in the lowest resolution possible. I am planning on "redoing" my shoot tomorrow after work.
I gave a few of these to my friend who does amature photography and he pretty much said what everyone else here has said....."these pictures are too small to edit, redo the shoot using RAW on the camera". Thanks to everyone for the comments though, I really appreciate it! PS: Special thanks to 9k for taking the time to edit the crap photos I provided. At least I have a sig pic now..... |
Read and follow the instructions on page 86 of your manual:
http://files.canon-europe.com/files/...0D_EN_Flat.pdf You can then combine the three images using HDR software such as Luminance HDR |
Hello fellow Iowan - Are those MB Weapons in Bronze? I am guessing 17"s. My buddy has a set he wants to unload here. They look pretty good on your car, it is giving me ideas...LOL
|
I've been having wet dreams about the MB Battles for about a month now lol
|
Just remember if you shoot in raw only certain imaging software can edit them. I don't shoot in RAW, that way if I need to batch edit photos real quick I can use Picasa.
|
Yep, MB Weapons in Bronze powdercoat. Size is 18x9 ET45 with 265/35R18 Kumho XS. I thought about the 17's, but the offset is quite low and I wanted to reduce the amount of scrub radius the wheel offset was going to add. I highly recommend the Weapons since they are fairly lightweight and highly durable.

Yes, the Battles are awesome. The only reason I went with the Weapons is that the Battles aren't available with a high offset in the size I wanted.

Thanks for the feedback. My buddy has imaging software that can handle the RAW files, but I will also take some jpeg images in the largest resolution possible for anyone here willing to help a noob.

wow 18x9 +45 - they looked smaller - like the Enkei RPF1's.
Not to jack, can you educate me on the scrub radius part. I have a R3 with 19's. I have some 17" dunlop star specs from my s2000 I cannot get rid of. So, I was thinking of getting some 17x8 +35 or +42 to throw these 245's on. Like a trasher wheel. I don't want to hurt my 19" BBS wheels. When I drive through an ATM or something, I am always freaking out that I will accidentally curb the wheel. :( |

Here is a good snapshot that explains scrub radius: http://www.lancerevoclub.org/faq/img/kingpin.gif Scrub radius is only important if you are a serious track day junkie, and even then, the benefits of reducing scrub radius are arguable. In the racing industry (specifically INDY league), suspension engineers don't design with a set scrub radius in mind. The scrub radius is usually just a biproduct of the suspension geometry as it is optimized by other values. However, when choosing aftermarket wheels you will be directly affecting scrub radius with wheel offset. To simplify; increasing scrub radius will "boost" steering response, especially at low speeds (parking lots), but will increase steering feedback during braking. You will also get higher tramlining effects with a larger scrub radius. If you aren't tracking, or if there are justifiable reasons for increasing scrub radius (i.e. decreasing offset in order to fit 285's on 10" wheels), then scrub radius isn't really a concern. I wanted a track setup, and therefore wanted to keep as close to stock scrub radius as possible. |
Alright guys......here is take two on the original photos. My buddy, who dabbles in amature photography, took my original files and edited them for me. I have to say they turned out 100 times better than what microsoft office can do. What do you guys think?

all i know is that your car serves as just another stinkin' reminder that I should've held out for a NG.

Dumb question....how did 9k post that image above, where it links to the Flickr picture where you can then select the higher resolution? |
Way better dude. Do you have a Flikr pro account?

First effort using Photoshop Elements 8
Wasn't able to redo the photoshoot today since it was raining. The weather tomorrow is expected to be nice, so I plan on taking some more pictures then.
In the meantime, I tried my (lack of) skills on photoshop. These pics were taken by a friend this May when I was at Blackhawk Farms. Let me know if you guys think either of these is "calendar worthy" for the Polak Graphics thread. http://www.flickr.com/photos/88285471@N02/8072839299/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/88285471@N02/8072840545/ Thanks, Jesse |
