Interior Pic
Just wanted to see what everyones opinion was on this. So far I like it tons. Had it installed facing the trunk originally but got sick of the spoiler jumping around. Sounds much better now and just wanted to show it off in another spot besides the audio section.
JL Audio 10" W7 with a JL 500.1 amp |
doesnt the sides contrict how far the sub recoils?
Nope you cant tell in that pic but its actually got about a 2"+ gap before the surround could hit.
o it looks real close in the picture.. nice DIY dude
looks great. Is it loud???
Suggestion. Take the original pass through cover, cut out the exact place where the speaker fires from, then go get some speaker grill type material, in black, and cover it up so it doesn't look like you have a big gaping hole between the seats. Also, when you are cutting out the speaker hole in the center pass through, leave a little of the material so as to make it a bit rigid to attach the material to. There are adhesives that will attach this material to the plastic and it will look a bit more factory installed. I would love to see someone do this.

nice idea dmenac
you probably lose a lot of bass by doing that, but it looks okay.
could be true because you need a object to for the bass to hit.. the quicker the sound hit a wall or seomthing the more bass you would get
That is true, it would definitly hit harder facing the rear of the car, but i can see his point about the trunk ratteling all to hell. My suggestion is to dynamat the whole trunk (generously) and reface it to the rear, Maybe install the MAZDA logo somehow on the back of the box so you can see it through the hole.
wow you've got a 10w7, and the mono JL sub amp, that's the EXACT setup i'm putting in my 8 whenever I can actually afford it. Awesome! Where'd you get your JL stuff, and how'd you find a good price?
I got it at Sound Advice. They price matched Onlinecarstereo.com's prices. $420 amp, and $450 speaker. They did a nice job and had everything in stock. I turned the speaker back to facing the rear of the car though. I was loosing a ton of bass by facing it that way. Looked cool but didnt serve the purpose I bought it for.
i bet it does wonders for the stereo in the car, the 10w7 is a great sub. Do you have the Bose package too?

Oh and place some LEDs to the backside so the sub glows! Again... see rotarygod's box under construction! "Dual audio build in Houston" or something like that is the name of the thread. |
hmmm.... that thread has not been up to date for a while.... are they even working on it still???
Yes he is. He is also working on a 1DIN dash panel for a couple people. He has had various things going on and admits that he is behind schedule. Once he gets going again, I'd expect him to finish soon.
