either the driver of the BMW sucks at drifting, the car sucks, or they both do. I still don't get the whole drifting thing, maybe I am just a few years too old.

Imidazole 07-13-2006 07:51 AM

Not at all impressed by this highly unsafe activity.

UhateMyRX8 07-13-2006 07:55 AM

Same here, Hell I saw FF3 and I kinda hate the whole drifting thing. I think it is over rated. NO i can not drift, but I do not think I would want to. I hear it is "ART". L8APEX I agree with you about the driver and car sucking.

Punksux 07-13-2006 08:28 AM

i like to watch drifting, i think that its pretty entertaining. But not the way these guys are doing it. Not impressed with there driving or them doing it on local roads

Blue_Chameleon 07-13-2006 08:47 AM

I don't know how to drift and I don't particulary care to learn. But when done right, I think it looks awesome. I think as long as drifting, or any kind of vehicular stunts, should be kept off the streets to keep everyone else safe should someone screw up. I did see Tokyo Drift and I love the movie, but it still didn't get me to go out there and learn to drift.

NgoRX8 07-13-2006 12:00 PM

they keep getting grip. lol

toxin440 07-13-2006 12:07 PM

all I saw was a bunch of idiot kids in europe spinning around a roundabout very unsafely. They weren't cool, even if it was an RX8 in the video it was stupid. I felt kinda sorry for the other drivers that came to the roundabout and were actually trying to get somewhere but these idiot kids were fucking around and causing trouble.

I'm like a few others here, I really don't get drifiting. It may be an art form, and more power to you if you can do it, but all I see are cars sliding around and expensive tires being wasted.

willofgod 07-13-2006 12:14 PM

I think the tire companys started this fad.

Aipex8 07-13-2006 12:25 PM

Like many other sports, motorsports now has a precision, speed based variant and a hot dog, freestyle variant. I get more satisfaction out of "grip", but drifting is fun to watch. Of course it should be limited to a track or other "off road" venue, not a roundabout in the middle of a city.

Another wanna-be drifter idiot (probably a repost, but I haven't seen it here yet):

There going like 10mph, you call that drifting? It's more like power sliding on smooth concrete.

canaryrx8 07-13-2006 02:10 PM

I don't dislike drifting at all, it's a very necessary skill to have for effective control of a vehicle and can be used in conjunction with grip driving etc.. You wouldn't have guys like Tsuchiya etc. doing it if it was a waste of time, I do despise the whole dorifto hype machine we're all being bludgeoned with, it's not like it's a new sport or even activity for that matter. Drifting has been around well over 20 years in the streets of Japan etc., and even more prevalent in the early days of stock car racing etc. where they would race on dirt "tracks". There's a whole breed of teenage drift kitties out there thinking they're all hot shit because they got a 500 dollar 240silvia180s13 or whatever and they can slide around a little with it, whole thing makes me ill. Just like any other motorsport, it does have its time and its place, and that's never on a crowded public road etc.

RazzyBRX-8 07-13-2006 03:57 PM

i definately enjoy watching it, and if i were going to do it, itd be on a controlled track. Definately not on a road.

Cattywampus 07-14-2006 09:55 AM

I dont understand the concept of it.

theboy 07-14-2006 12:35 PM

I love drifting

I love watching difting too

I only know a bit of drifting

Drifting safed my life once, imagine u are sliding on a thin surface of water or ice before u loss control.

Like what everybody says, drifting on a public road is a TRIPLE NO NO NO!

Only drift on controled track or area. Thanks.

Police34 i love your "iraq drift"

here is a poster to promote safety.

Growing up in Ohio I learned to drive in the snow so drifting was second nature to me. Road racing a shifter kart in the rain is a lot like drifting, at least the way I drive. It's not the fastest way around the track but it sure is a lot of fun. I raced for fun.
