Eyelids Installed

Hello everyone. :) I Ordered the closest thing to Kai Office eyelids that I could find, and got them painted & installed over the weekend. Opinions?

never really been a fan of eyelids myself, but nice paint match and nicely done :icon_tup:

TopGear8 03-09-2009 02:24 PM

Fitment looks very nice. Lookin good!

Fortunate Few 03-09-2009 02:27 PM

^^^ what he said they look almost stock.

L337fpc 03-09-2009 02:28 PM

very nice man. Dare I ask where you aquired said eyelids?

Race Roots 03-09-2009 02:30 PM

He got them off ebur!

tubingchamp 03-09-2009 02:30 PM

^^ Are you implying that e-bay is like being stabbed with a burr ? Haha :)

They look great:D

Race Roots 03-09-2009 02:33 PM

LOL

They do look nice

L337fpc 03-09-2009 02:33 PM

well those are freaking sweet. i know im gonna invest in them once i've got the $$ saved for a complete body kit.

SiLVeRE8 03-09-2009 03:22 PM

i want a set and i didnt see them on ebay

SilverHokie 03-09-2009 03:46 PM

They look great and fitment is excellent. In my opinion, lips and the aero package compliment the eyelids a little better.

Stock makes them look kinda funny.

mkztg 03-09-2009 03:53 PM

Those look really nice. I have a local guy who paint matched my bumper when it got scratched up - I bet he could paint match some of these for me too.... hummm.. :)

greg985 03-09-2009 04:17 PM

how much did you pay to paint them? If you dont mind

Ross_Dawg 03-09-2009 04:29 PM

looks good, linky?

pdxhak 03-09-2009 04:36 PM

I've always liked these eyelids. The paint match looks perfect!

BTW Someone on rx8web.com makes these. Or he used to that is.

pdxhak 03-09-2009 04:41 PM

Found the thread :)

Those look very nice, congrats. I agree they would look absolutely killer with a kit.

Leesha 03-09-2009 04:50 PM

How much did they cost you? Cool looking indeed....

S1lveRx8 03-09-2009 05:14 PM

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really didn't admire the perfect fitment until all of the comments. Def. a great product.

The Seller is VQ5Speed.

He takes 1-9 days to make it before he ships out USPS Priority mail. Took less than 2 weeks total for mine to arrive.

Paid $50.80 for the eyelids and $45 bucks for the paint match at a shop near my house that has done work for me before.

His name is Jethro Tull. I PM'ed him about it before I jumped on these. He still makes them per order basis. $150 primer or $250 painted sunlight silver ONLY COLOR AVAILABLE.

Baez rx8 03-09-2009 06:44 PM

Looks good

Jethro Tull is a member on this board so no need for anyone to register over on the dark side hahahah

Assuming the quality of the eyelids from ebay is good then that is a great price!

neXib 03-09-2009 07:08 PM

The thing with the Kei Office is that they compliment the shape of the car. These don't as much, so in my opinion they are a bit too big. But still look great, I like the more "evil" look eyelids give.

RoTaRyRx-8 03-09-2009 11:30 PM

they look way nice

SiLVeRE8 03-10-2009 12:19 AM

after looking at the kei office eyelids... i see that they are both kind of different. the kei looks more smooth on the curved edges. but these still looks good for the price! might pick up a pair and just modify them myself

risky business 03-10-2009 12:58 AM

good job installing them. great paint match too

rx8thunder 03-10-2009 01:21 AM

Do they block light from coming through or does light escape through their cracks, etc?

Ya I like these a lot.

But for those of you guys (including myself) who didn't like that strip of the eyelids coming down along the inside of the headlight, try these eyelids (also of eBay from the same seller for the same price). They are larger eyelids and imo are quite a bit more aggressive.

I attached pics of what they look like installed (for those who haven't seen these pics from a different thread).

Peace.

Not at all...all light shines through just as much...unless of course you tint your headlights..... :icon_no2:

Hmmm I quite like the more aggressive look. Thanks for answring the question but I actually meant it the other way. In other words, at night do you notice any light escape through he eye lids themselves? I hope the answer is no. thx

vndr09 03-10-2009 01:48 AM

Indeed the answer is no. Light can't get through these things...

rx8thunder 03-10-2009 01:57 AM

I love the more aggressive eyelids with your front end.

I have a MS front end which is more rounded than yours, so I wonder if he more angular look of the aggressive eyelids would look as good with the MS front end as the less aggressive version which is a little more rounded???

Any photos you can point me too?

vndr09 03-10-2009 02:07 AM

oooo, well i'm not really sure of any pics with the ms kit on it, but here's a guy on here with my same eyelids but without any kit on the front.

imo the original front bumper has similar CURVES to the ms front bumper...obviously i like the ms one a lot more, but I guess since we're comparing aggressive vs. rounded, THESE couple pics might point you in the right direction.

Other than these pics, I'm not sure I can help you find any other pics that might help you. I guess just try searching rx8 eyelids on google and see if you can find any pics with them installed with the ms body kit.

peace.

^ thanks. I prefer the more aggressive look. Looks cleaner and well... more aggressive :) See pic for comparison...

S1lveRx8 03-10-2009 07:55 AM

I personally still prefer the ones that I bought. You guys are right though, with different body kits, the more aggressive look will look just as great.

They are of thin fiberglass and NO light shines through them.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Call me Psychic, but I see an increase in eyelid sales for the future :)

The top headlights make the car look lazy, or tired...the other eyelids make the car look pissed off.

I really think it depends on the type of lip kit or body kit you have the car. If you are going for a clean look, the really aggressive eyes might not go too well?

Eh...I wonder which eyelids would go the best with my shineauto (burnout repl) kit coming in?

Interesting observation, I see what you mean.

Personally, I think the more aggressive one gives a cleaner look.

Yeah, thx for thread, I'm going to get a set...

SilverHokie 03-24-2009 03:40 PM

I miss when my Silver didn't have chips on the bumper. SIGH...

T-ReX-8 03-29-2009 11:01 PM

The larger ones are a little cheesy. The nice thing about the OPs is they look OEM. People can't tell when its body matched. Lines flow well and gives the car a different look. The second pair are just like, wtf wow... a fatty triangle on my lens, big ol diagonal line, not much character. But they are far more obvious.

I'll agree that the second ones are much more aggressive. But the term "cleaner" is being misused.

Anyone know where I can find these eyelids?????
