Check it out>>> Sydney Show RED PRODUCTION RX-8
This is kind of odd. The red car we have been seeing in the pictures/ movies lately was at the sydney motorshow a few weeks ago. The color mey look pink, but belive me it's not photoshopped. Notice the new mirrors, how they have black plastic, and no turn indicators. Also, the windsheild is a 90% black tint. Does this mean that this car is just a non-drivable mock up, or is mazda hiding the interior from the press. The doors arent open like at all the other shows to show off the doors. Also, check out the wheels. They are definatly 18's, and they are the same as the yellow concept just not as mettalic. The front intakes are also larger. So It looks like mazda has been watching over these forums pretty good, because i have heard a lot of complaints of the yellow color, the chrome wheels, and the mirrors.. . .

Looks totally fake to me.

How can you say it looks fake?? More pics and movies:

i am totally not liking the side mirrors that way. why did they do that? as far as this car goes- its not the one from the spy pics as that one had a sunroof. i think this is another mule mock-up or maybe one of the earlier cars redone for the shows. probably doesn't have a finished interior. maybe its the old show car that used to have the hood vents or maybe an evolve with the body reworked?
|
Didn't the forum analyze the mirrors on those other pictures and determine that the side markers were inded still there somewhere?
|
well, the car that was driven around at sevenstock had the mirrors like the one pictured above. Yet the new images mazda has released, the ones with the red car in motion or with the doors open, has the same mirrors as the yellow concept. So either these pictures are a mock up, or this is real and the official mazda pictures are photoshopped yellow rx-8s.

It's definately real. Probably not a runner though, maybe interiorless too. And, just who are these dancing guys? :D

It is not unusual for a manufacturer to re-paint an early model or prototype. The original silver Evolv became a red Evolv.
The car pictured here is NOT the final one. Remeber Detroit...you will see it there FIRST (and not before, anywhere.) Reust me on this one. |

boowana, if you're not correct on your info, you're going to get a flamming like no lemming has ever seen the likes of. ;)

Grimace, you beat me to it again- what the heck is up with those dancing guys? That has got to be the oddest thing I've seen in a while. I REALLY hope they don't do that in Detroit.
The black on the mirrors looks like a little stripe. Bleah...kinda reminds me of "Knightrider" for some reason. And forgive me if this has been mentioned before- but are the front fenders more rounded on the red car than the yellow car? They seem to look a little less harsh around the edges to me. Am I seeing things? |
I believe this car can drive !
I can tell you by looking at the grooves in the diskbrakes. Also the tires are a bit used but nicely cleaned on the sidewalls. When you look at the side intakes in the front, you can see there's a little grill. This also isn't as clean as new. It looks like it had rain on it. And I can't imagine how a non driveable car can get rain in there... Maybe the windows are tinted so you can't see all the junk of the testdriver inside :D :D |
The front end does look somewhat changed, but I still like the original (2001) version best:

certainly... most notably, no louvers, and much larger head lamps, cooling ducts, and no turn signals... i really like the look of the larger grill opening though :)
i've gotta agree with Beemer, that maybe this car IS a driveable mule, but the interior isn't production, so the blacked out the windows... i've seen it done before (at the Vancouver Int'l Auto show...), i think it was a Lancer... but how can you tell it's been rained on?? |
Well, because the plastic inside the grills (in front of the front wheels) are a bit whitish. New plastic doesn't have a white shine on it, it's deep black and shiny. I see it when I wash my car and forget to clean some plastic parts with some cockpit spray or plastic cleaner. Those parts get a white haze on them from the rain ("sour" rain -> it works (eats) on the plastic so you have to "feed" it again with the "greasy" cockpit spray to get them like new again). The white haze only comes back when it has been raining, not when the weather is dry... (at least on my car ;) )

Love it!!:D

Dont the door handles look different? I like the concept handles better.
