i posted some pics of my 8 that i took a few weeks ago in another thread, i'll bring 'em over here later... in the mean time i made a webpage for some pics i took when i first got the car in august. http://home.comcast.net/~brookmarin/rx8/rx8.html i've had a hard time at capturing the color change effect the car has in different lights.. i've seen it at times go from green to blue to purple... it's really an awesome look!

I posted these in the winter thread as well. But I wanted to represent the PB in this thread since there aren't many of us.

I think phantom blue is one of those colors you have to see in person to appreciate it.

I agree, and in direct sunlight it's amazing. First time I had seen one was at Zoom Zoom Live when the color was introduced. I said, "Woah! That's a new color." Then I walked around it and noticed the changing colors in the metallic flek.

I picked up my 2007 Phantom Blue about ten days ago. I drove all over the DC area looking, only to have Browns Fairfax drive one in overnite straight from the docks in Baltimore. :cool:

Once I saw it in perso, I was sold. Half blue, half green with a lot of gold flake thrown in for good measure. You simply MUST see it in person. I was always a fan of the Montego blue FD's, and this is the closest thing yet. :) She has spent a lot of time under my OEM car cover, but once winter fades a bit (its only Feb 1st?!?!) I will get some nice pictures for this thread. :D

See how our color (PB) can turn dayemn near purple'ish in some lighting conditions...

funny thing is I've never seen the PB look the color it shows on the madza site! That must be the worst representation of actual color they've done

Thanks man. You're right, the Mazda website's a rip. When I was looking to "build" my 8 on their site, I skipped PB as soon as i saw it. Then I saw it at the dealership at dusk. *gasp*

I have SlipNside1.3 to thank for the pics. He's got a fancy-ass camera and he knows how to use it...

I am, however, kind of glad that it looks so awful in the website. It makes this one of the most rare-er colors for an 8. I'd say PB and LY. Makes me feel special. But not "little-bus" special...

I agree one hundred percent. This color is just phenomenal. I scoured half a dozen local dealers to see one, but the closest I got was PB on a Mazada6 five door. It looked terrible, but the color wasn't the problem. :p The dealer I purchased from ended up going out of their way to bring one in for me to see. I was sold on the spot. It just defies description with how well this paint is matched to the car. It is very close to the FD/Montego blue combo of my youthful dreams. :)
