scary - hope your ok!

what happened? did the snow/weather play a factor?

Zelse 03-02-2008 10:49 AM

Man that is such a bullshit way to go. Personally, I'd use this to collect the repair money, fix what is needed then mod the rest. James knows what he's doin though. :)

CyberPitz 03-02-2008 11:16 AM

Hmmm, that doesn't look too bad! Then again, I can't really tell. Hope you stay OK, and the car comes back to life!

j67345 03-02-2008 11:23 AM

Wow, that sucks! At least you're (sounds like for the most part) okay though. Cars can be replaced. Those are summer tires though, aren't they?

Greenblurr93 03-02-2008 11:25 AM

I honestly dont know what happend, in all my years of racing (drift and autoX) ive never had my cars back end come out as violently or as fast as this... Even as i was countersteering and tying to bring the back end around the car just wouldnt respond.

They were suppsed to be "all season" but deff are geared toward warmer climate....

And i am an I-Car certifed body tech... and what you cant see is all the subframe damage... Im figuing about 10-12k in damage... and if the car is valued at 15k that means the repair bill would have to equal 13k for it to be totalled... so its close

hscrash 03-02-2008 11:35 AM

Jim, Im really sorry to hear that.

Yeah Im glad you didnt get any heavy injury though.

I can get you some Asian Herb for you.

Let me know! (seriously)

Zelse 03-02-2008 12:14 PM

The way the story was told to me, in all honesty, My guess is that he hit the ice and caused his back end to slip out. Due to traction control, the car gripped back on, but was already too late because the car was facing the guard rail..At least that's my guesstimate. James will be fine and he'll make a good choice as to what to do either with the car or whatever. :P

altspace 03-02-2008 12:17 PM

Holy shoot! How bad were the roads up there? I know it's been very cold lately.

Insignia 03-02-2008 12:19 PM

Cant see how you're blaming the car. Wrong tires for the wrong season.

Spin9k 03-02-2008 12:23 PM

Wow that sucks, and just as spring (supposedly) is around the corner! Hope nothing was really broken, good luck in getting it totaled, maybe a 2009 in your future?

rio_rx8 03-02-2008 12:27 PM

Damn...glad youre ok...

No one is blaming the car... all i said was the back end came out and i couldnt save it.. hell it came out so fast even traction control couldnt save it... its just one of those things that happens sometimes, thats life. We'll have to see what the police report says about road conditions, but everywhere else was dry, so i dont think tires were the issue.

And i dont think Zelse was blaming the car either, he pretty much said it couldnt be saved once it went around... at least thats how i took it

chrism 03-02-2008 01:14 PM

wow that sux!

laythor 03-02-2008 02:00 PM

glad to hear you got out alive... hope the back doesnt end up being too bad.

secret8gent 03-02-2008 04:28 PM

oh no!

I hope you heal quickly and painlessly! It is such a shame to lose a car so quickly, your health is far more important though.

If you end up parting the car, or totaling it, let me know where it ends up - I could use some parts~

+1 for not using summer tires in the winter - look for the snowflake on the mountain next time.

are you still coming to any meets?

Greenblurr93 03-02-2008 04:50 PM

ok, ill say it again... when i bought them i was told they were all season.... and i dont know what i will do if its totalled... as of right now im just making sire nothing too serious is goin on with my back

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes

Kris 03-02-2008 04:52 PM

Thats why the first "mod" i bought for my 8 were a new set of winters and steelies.

But sucks to see the fall of another 8. :(

LHpitcher4 03-02-2008 07:45 PM

Glad you're still alive! But sorry about the 8...

It might've been the amber corners' fault!

KraZy K 02 03-02-2008 07:51 PM

Glad you're okay. It's a shame about the 8, but these things happen. Hope you get it fixed or get a new one soon.

Greenblurr93 03-02-2008 08:14 PM

i actually dont think clear corners look good on a Ti grey... and yes, it will get fixed, or i will get a new one, and maybe part out whats left of this one

N rider89 03-02-2008 11:23 PM

glad youre ok, that whats most important.

Elements352 03-03-2008 04:24 AM

Feel your pain, but stay hopeful

I feel for you man, I wrecked mine over Christmas and just finally got it back a week ago. Hope your back isnt serious, hope you and your 8 make a full recovery.

DOMINION 03-03-2008 05:05 AM

Wow that sucks. 8's and snow is a no!

altspace 03-03-2008 07:45 AM

^Huh? How does it differ from other RWD vehicles. Obviously there are many circumstances that are not known here, therfore one can not judge solely on a single aspect.

Proof that the 8 is fun in snow. https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/rx8-fun-snow-133141/
