Battery Life ??
 

How long will my battery last for? I had to boast it the other day cus I was cleaning it and listening to music & after a few hours it died on me. Normally in the past this wouldn't happen.

So how long will it be before I have to replace this battery?? Any ideas? 3years...2yrs...????

I tend to get just short of 3 years with my batteries. I have an aftermarket stereo setup and (knock on wood) haven't had any issues yet, but it's getting old and I will probably be replacing it by spring.

Oh ok... How do you know when its a good time to replace it though? It still starts fine and I bought that boster thingy from Canadian tire in case I have to boast it.

The thing is I'm afraid that one day I'll be out and it will be mega cold & my baby will not start... sooo do I just replace it now before that happens?

It will be 3yrs in April that I've had my car so just under 3 like you said above...

Why is this post in the Photo section anyway? I have an 04' and I just put in my third a month or so ago.

Ok so I had to replace my battery. I was stopped at a gas station and left my lights on when I got back in the car it wouldn't start so needless to say I went straight to the dealer and had it replaced.

Our warranty covers the battery life if under 2years @ 50%, under 3years @ 25% & free labor on that which would have been $45.

So I did get it tested and sure enough it was the battery which I already knew. The dealership replaced it and a new one only costed $67 + tax...

Just a quick update...ya posting here is by habit... :) Do you need me to post a pic of my battery then. :)

Have you thought of getting a capacitor for your stereo setup? It will relieve the strain on your battery.

Ok so this is another language for me once again. WHat is it & is it hard to install? Is it really worth all that trouble? I don't mind getting a battery every few years... :)

^^ It powers your amp and whatever else you want to plug into it. Basically the battery keeps the charge on it topped off. So, instead of your setup running directly off your battery, it redirects the power usage from the capacitor instead. :)

A capacitor stores a (very small) amount of power that it gets from the battery. It doesn't do much to extend the life of the battery. Its purpose in a sound system is to supply a lot of current for a very short period of time, which is usually required to fully reproduce a bass hit if you are using very large speakers.

If you like to listen to the sound system with the car not running, you should consider a deep-cycle battery. That way, if you drain it down you aren't killing the battery. Regular car batteries do not like to be deeply drained, as OP has already discovered. If you really like to push it, then a second battery, just for the sound system, would be in order. That way you can run it down with impunity and still get the car started.

i have an 05. i am still on the original battery.

although its pretty weak and can take 7-8 seconds to start my car. i recently had to jump it cause i was i didnt drive it for a week.
