B-Pillar different color?
So I bought my 04 in 03/09... Almost two and a half years now, and just now I noticed this...
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...70352789_n.jpg Would someone tell me wtf is going on here? This feels like you just found out you have a birthmark on ur butt cheek when ur like 30... Should've noticed earlier... look at my sig... FML... |
haha really ?!?! You noticed NOW ... ??
|
bad picture.
is it the color of the car? the b-pillar stock is simply wrapped in black vinyl. if you peel off that vinyl, it'll show the car's body color. |

They're different????
:Eyecrazy: Edit- Oh ok I just read the part about removing the vinyl. I wen't to the garage to check and mine are both black. |

Didn't know that until now. I might rip it off and see if it looks good with white...lol |

Mine are black but i kind of like it :) |
mine is like a plastic. It doesnt seem like you can remove it unless the previous owner removed it already. If he did, wouldnt the b pillars look glossy. Its got a plastic finish to it and it doesnt look like you can peel anything.
|
^ It is indeed a vinal if you look carefully, it's just really hard to peel off.
|
^YUP!
It took me about 20 minutes to peel each side. The vinyl was starting to look pretty sketchy, so I peeled them and re-applied some nice, piano black vinyl instead. I recommend doing it while warm (or in your garage with a hair dryer) and keeping some rubbing compound and a cotton cloth on hand for the remaining residue. |
link of said black vinyl?
|
:dunno: No link. I bought it from a sign shop in town. It was about $50 to buy the minimum amount of it, and it is way more than I'm ever going to use. I've managed to find a couple of other uses for it as well (like the silver on the center console - now piano black:naughty:)

https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...7&d=1310880787 However - out of curiosity - how did you do that with the black vinyl? I imagine it took a long time to get the vinyl straight and without any air bubbles around the edges and contours:SHOCKED:

There's also "Cosmo Red" like my 40th Anniversary Edition - which is really more like burnt orange:smoker: Attachment 240266 Attachment 240267 Another thing is that in mine the color covers the entire front face of the seat - as opposed to the black-and-red combo. I believe the Shinkas also have an entire solid color. BTW, I actually think your car looks cool with one of the pillars black and the other blue. It goes well with the wheels :) |

The conversion to piano black on the black on the console isn't too difficult, actually. I took my time (my 8 isn't my DD) and it took about 3 days. Here is a link, my stuff is on page 2... https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=console |
The black/chaparral was one of the factory interior options, just like the other color combos. I want to say it was only available in NG? That's the only color exterior I ever saw it in at least.
This thread made me LOL! To be honest, I did not know it was painted underneath either! |
dude that's funny
