mscamp02 05-22-2010 02:45 PM

he used to have 20s and now has 19s. his pics should give you some idea

But dont do it. I'm actually stepping down from my 18s to 17s in the next week or two

EV3R15 05-22-2010 03:41 PM

oh really how come ?

Aipex8 05-22-2010 04:32 PM

Search through the wheel / tire section of the forum, lots of threads about pros and cons (mostly cons) of 20" wheels. The quick answer: They will be much heavier than smaller wheels and will hurt acceleration and handling dramatically.

20's work on some cars, but on a lightweight, lower powered, good handling sportscar they ruin just about everything that makes it great.

^ +1 for that

the 8 is a light, well handling car with moderate power

you put 20's on a heavy, poor handling, loads of power straight line car

the stock wheels are 18 (19 on R3), though they're probably lighter than many (cheaper) aftermarket wheels.

I really wish the huge wheel thing would just die already.

perks11 05-24-2010 10:02 PM

I have 19"s and even these are a little big for me sometimes, 20"s will rub quite a bit. If your goin straight show they will look good, but if your still expecting performance go smaller.

Creekhail 05-26-2010 05:59 AM

Depends on the wheels you choose. My OZs have the same weight like the stock wheels. No change for acceleration or handling, but for the look :yumyum:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...highlight=Kuro Click the link for a few pictures from my car with this wheels.

I don't see any problems (have no problems). There is the same dimensions (wheel + tyre) like stock - no rub or something like that.

mbentley 05-27-2010 10:04 AM

if you ask me, 20" wheels just too way too big. :puke:

i wouldn't go bigger than 19's, but like i said, that's just me.

brakes look too small inside a 20" wheel (to borrow from Creekhail's thread):

The back brakes don't LOOK small, they ARE small ;-)
But yes - there is now room for bigger brakes :-)

Even if 20's weigh the same, they still can slow you down. Same concept as holding a pencil near the eraser and spinning it, then try holding it further up and spinning it. it becomes easier to spin even though it weighs the same, simply because it has more "rim" to spin.

Atilla 05-27-2010 12:40 PM

Those are some legit 20" wheels (referring to the OZ's) I would prefer to see 20" OZ's than 20" zinik's.

corres78 05-28-2010 03:28 AM

20" is goood :Peace:
