Kautex Textron is a German company owned by Textron, the U.S. conglomerate. Kautex Textron, a manufacturer of auto parts and industrial packages, supplies plastic fuel tanks for the Fiat Stilo. In July 2001 Kautex Textron and Keylex Japan jointly founded a plastic fuel tank manufacturing company, located in Hiroshima, which has started supplying to Mazda.

Thats from this page http://www.marklines.com/en/report/rep240_200401 it gives a good description of how most tanks are made
Since 1994 six-layer/four-material plastic fuel tanks with a layer of Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Polymer (EVOH) as a barrier against gas permeation have come into widespread use mostly in North America; and they are now the dominant type of tank. |
