Good thing there wasn't anyone in the passenger seat.

zoom44 06-06-2012 02:59 PM

i think they are wrong about that fire truck. i bet its totaled. time for a new truck :)

WreakLoosE 06-06-2012 04:12 PM

Aww.. that should buff out... Glad he is ok..

NotAPreppie 06-06-2012 06:54 PM

What moron hits a freaking fire truck with lights flashing and traffic cones?!? And he must have been moving at a pretty good clip to do that much damage to his car.

nycgps 06-06-2012 07:22 PM

while Smith’s 2004 Mazda RX8 received about $10,000 in damage.
I want to see if anybody can fix "that" 8 with 10K

well, good thing he is alive but he is a moron. how the f u gonna just ram right into the rear of a parked fire truck like that on a sunny day ?

in this case

Fire department - 1 (cuz they get to buy a new one!)
RX-8 - 0 (another 8 gone)

Matrx8 06-06-2012 07:23 PM

I'm guessing he knew it was there and in the other lane but was texting and his car swerved into the other lane. Either way he was a moron going as fast as he was right next to a fire truck. Screw his own stupid life, he could've easily killed one of the firemen or anybody else on the scene. That's one thing I never do is use a cell phone *at all* while driving.

Also, Mythbusters proved that using a cell phone, using a hands free device, or even just talking to the person next to you can be as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. Scary huh? Now take into account how many people aren't even looking where they're going, texting, fiddling with their radio/GPS etc. I've done it, I'll admit it. It scared the hell out of me when I realized I couldn't remember the last 200-500 feet going 55+ down the highway.

But my biggest pet peeve by far is people who don't change lanes or at least slow down when emergency vehicles are on the side of the road. I've seen too many videos of police officers etc. getting hit and it really ticks me off.

Maybe his 8 needed a new engine and he thought the best way to get a new car is to drive it into a fire truck.

Chris 06-06-2012 08:14 PM

Fire trucks are custom made. If you look closely he did enough damage to completely bend the rear rim on the firetruck. Who know how bent all the tool doors are. I can see a hefty amount of change needed to fix that truck.

Are-Ex-Eight 09-14-2012 10:06 AM

Passenger would have been killed.

All_Day_Dre 09-14-2012 12:47 PM

at least he doesnt have to worry about fixing his foggy tail lights

...YUP...and it's going to have to be repainted and recertified. And if the pump is damaged....which given the bent left wheel it very well may be...could wind up being more than 50k...the whole back of the damn truck is going to have to be redone..both sides

RadRedR3 09-14-2012 02:10 PM

Little Zaino and that Mazda will buff right out.

Anyone who doesn't believe that is $50k to the fire truck has obviously never been around custom built fire and EMS units and doesn't have a freaking clue. Lol

They should take his driving license back and never reissue it again.

that will not stop him from driving :ylsuper:

a license is a piece of paper, to tell you that "hey there! you just passed a pathetic test set by idiots who can't drive for shit in the first place!"

At least that's what NYC is all about.

The funny thing is that somebody said "glad he's ok".
Not for him but for the family car or crossing pedestrian he may hit the next time.
Darwin... where art thou?

I like how the article says it's a 2 door and someone in the comments corrects that by calling it a 5 door...

They probably counted the number of openings in its current condition.

Really? Your quite lucky, at least you only got minor injury from it.

:icon5:

pistonhater 09-21-2012 01:52 PM

that kid was driving faster than 50 mph.

Seems like the rx8 is safer than what I thought. Unbelievable that he walked away with only minor injuries.

Of course, no one mentioned that the injuries he got were caused by the beatings he received from the Fire Department.

I'm not sure that I understand your post. It sounds like he was driving at speed, hit an immovable object, and walked away with minor injuries. So are you crying that your car is relatively safe? :Wconfused
