A question on a Mazda model?

What Mazda model is shown translucent on the top of the Sky-Active page?

It looks sort of like an 8...

Is it me, or does that clear version really need a drop in the back?

drifthappens 10-21-2011 10:35 PM

not only a drop, but a diff. more RWD!

monchie 10-22-2011 12:50 AM

It's just a concept. Can't wait to see it someday, if it happens.

rotary's dream 10-22-2011 01:44 AM

drifthappens 10-22-2011 02:52 AM

I can't figure out why people can't seem to accept or understand that the Shinari ISN'T A CAR CONCEPT.

It's a DESIGN LANGUAGE CONCEPT. They had to put a chassis and engine under it to drive it around, but they are just showing off the idea of the lines, the visuals, the style.

zoom44 10-24-2011 11:12 AM

i keep looking at that and thinking "thats not Shinari"

and here's why

1. The wheel base actually looks shorter to me. look at the skirt length between front and rear wheel openings.
2. look at the grill. its not the shinari's. it looks more like the 2 part opening of the 3 facelift but its not that either because the emblem is down in the "mustache"
d. the roof takes a different line when it turns down towards the trunk. its "flat" rather than following the curve and when it drops into the rear fender it doesn't turn and follow the arc of the fender. it almost looks like a hatch roof to me.

RIWWP 10-24-2011 11:40 AM

It's a design language :)

There are lots of different exact dimensions and details out there if you image search it. Perhaps it's just the visual difference that are slowly making their changes on the way to market.

zoom44 10-24-2011 12:01 PM

i know what it is. Kodo is the design language. I have a Kodo T-shirt. I dont believe the clear car is the Shinari. I think its more like a 6 hatch

Although this thread is more suited for General Automotive I am glad the op brought the topic. I was struck by aspects of that image throughout the video qand concluded that we're getting more hints of the future Mazda 6. Zoom, you are on the ball as usual :).

Paul.

in my opinion that car is just imaginary.

BTW, dont' seems a beauty to me.....

Mazmart 10-25-2011 07:27 AM

The proof is in the pudding

Mazda has just announced the Mazda Takeri concept vehicle to be displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is what was being hinted and will bring forth the new Mazda 6.

Skyactiv?

MORE LIKE SKYNET!!!! Run for your lives!!!!

lesper4 10-25-2011 07:01 PM

yes bingo!

shadycrew31 10-25-2011 07:54 PM

Also... This Skyactiv crap is Mazda joining Honda and Toyota in the MPG hunt. I fear they have stepped away from Sports cars all together.

Nissan is going to the be only one left catering to a dying performance market.

$5 says Mazda pulls the whole mazdaspeed line and throws these skyactiv engines in every car.

8 Maniac 10-25-2011 10:03 PM

I would disagree with that. Skyactiv engines are focused on increasing fuel economy but have not made sacrifices to power thus far. They have released Skyactiv engines that produce little power, but they're small displacement engines that are focused for fuel efficiency and are optional engines. Most companies, including Mazda, have offered multiple engine options and usually there's a "fuel efficient" engine and a "performance" engine. It's nothing new. Might as well make an effort to improve on the engines and take advantage of the catchy name for marketing purposes.

Have any of the Skyactiv engines replaced a more powerful engine for a particular platform?

shadycrew31 10-25-2011 10:13 PM

JEEEEZ I was just trying to predict the future!

8 Maniac 10-25-2011 10:58 PM

What's the point...? We wont have to worry about anything past 2012 :p:

shadycrew31 10-25-2011 11:17 PM

True!

Rote8 10-26-2011 07:04 AM

2012, the year the Mayans return and show us how to use rocks for a fuel...
