This doesn't disappoint me at all. The fewer there are, the more special mine becomes. Besides, the sales numbers have been dropping like a stone since '06. Not really news.

In this media driven economic climate, "comfort food" cars sell, meaning family transportation appliances or ego boosting testosterone vehicles. Special purpose sports cars, even good ones, fall by the wayside. Such is life and the economy.

it needs a turbo/supercharger, or a 20B option @ dealership, lol
people dont buy because they dont understand and they haven't drive it,
they only look at the numbers, ok 232hp with 18mpg
but its all abt the feeling , the handling

I like how they always want to point "high oil consumption" when they clearly never even own/drive one before.

sadly, when it comes to cars, American public always go for "bigger = better" "more hp = better"

car like Rx-8 not gonna sell well. its expected.

and funny thing is, people rather buy Crossfire and not Rx-8 when Crossfire is a well know piece of **** that sucks in everything. weird market.

the boxster/cayman, the jaguar xk, audi tt, rx8, and possibly the tribeca aren't really surprising since they cater to a specific audience, enthusiasts (the tribeca not as much, but there's a certain type of person that buys a tribeca). On the flip side they are surprising for a few reasons.

Putting the exotics on that list is retarded, they're MEANT to be low volume production vehicles.

I'll wear that as a badge of honor. Have you considered the best sellers as an alternative?

This doesn't really surprise me either. I purchased the car because I wanted something unique that looks good because it is not on every street corner. If I wanted a popular, hi horsepower car, I would have purchased a mustang.

I find the engine fascinating. I love being able to say that this car is the only production car in the world with this engine.

As nice as it is to have a unique car, sales determine future production. If sales get low enough, Mazda will stop producing rotary powered cars. I know they've dealt with poor sales in the past and still continued to produce another rotary car, but that will only work for so long. Mazda is still a company and will make the decision to end rotary cars if necessary.

If you look at 350z sales figures and compare them to the 8, it's very clear which car won in terms of sales. If we're lucky enough to see another rotary car, it needs to do better or else our best alternative will be a Z car or something along those lines.

Wow, the Ford F-150??!? I swear, you can watch traffic on the West Side Highway for hours and not see a single F-150 go by. I guess here in New York we don't need to constantly be carrying lumber, bricks, pipes or whatever the hell it is the rest of you have to haul around to make it the #1 selling vehicle!

You should spend an hour in Texas. I went to high school in a "well-off" area (the type with many kids driving BMWs, mercedes, lexus etc) and we still had a lot of kids that would want to drive pickups. It's just kind of a thing for some reason. I always find it kind of funny because it seems like 95% of those people could get another car and find more use out of it. They seem to want a truck simply for the fact that it's a truck.

I truly believe that this is the time to bring back the RX-7, but updated. Make it lightweight, turbocharged, and curvaciously sexy. Give it 50/50 weight distribution, 2 doors, and a nice growl. Lose the cupholders, flip down screens and rear doors (if I want a quick 4 door Mazda, I can have an MS3), and watch them sell.

I love the RX-8, but it's always been kind of an odd duck. Not quite an all-out sports car, but definitely no grocery getter either. If Mazda was to make another truly fast, tunable RX sports car...I'll bet they'd do alright.

I guess I understand. I'm a bit of a country boy... we're always getting into home improvement projects or hauling large car parts, and that justifies having a pick-up. For me, it's camping. I love my RX-8, but I also have a 4x4 for when I want to head to the woods, go fishing, hunting, or just off-roading.

For most people, though, I think they just feel safer in a truck, or live in a place where it snows.

The RX8 works just fine as a daily griven grocery getter, tyvm.

Economic driven by thus far. Smaller and lighter vehicles in the near future, you'll see.

They plan to shave 400 pounds of the MX-5 platform. Smack a new rotary on that and watch it fly.

Mazda already got a good grip on design and direction.
