New Testdrive in german mag "MOT"
Nothing very new, they like the RX-8 very much (so do I :D ).
They say it is a unique funcar for an astonishing price, a real sportscar for the same money as a VW Golf GTI... |

Can you translate in English!
:D |
In the top left corner of picture 4 the plastic cover is being taken off. That is really good news since it probably means it is not hard to remove.
|
...hm, all I need is a magazine that test the titanium color RX-8!
|
Wow, I hope the Canadian pricing of the RX-8 is on par with the GTi ($26k in our case.) :D
That'd be sweet, but it'll never happen. |
I could if the type was clearer, I can read some of it now, but the rest of it is too blurred on my monitor:-)

For the next laugh:
My translation: with the RX-8 Mazda brings a unique sportscar for a sensational low price Our Language isn't perfect sometimes. They could be named wings or muscle, but not "kotfügel" (the german word for fenders, which me "shitcatchers" - really!). An unpleasantly word for those almost female curves, that dominate the look of the car. It gives you a great look of hills and valleys from the driving position. It's a real sportscar on the first look. The proportions are a little different to a Ferrari or a Porsche, but that's the trick Mazda uses to make this a real alldays-car compared to the other cassical sportscars. The inside is as well done as the outside. The gearshift is very short, but let's start the engine. The rotary wake up with a quiet hum. That shows the next unique part: The only Wankel engine in the world. Over decades Mazda evolved the rotary, working a against the problems high emissions and fuel consumption. The RX-8 is rated EU4 and uses 11,3 litres fuel on 100 kilometers. How much it'll be on the german autobahn must show a testdrive. First gear and up and away: The engine spins easily up to 8.500 U/min. when a buzz reminds you to shift gear. The sound is still quiet, a better exhaust may help here. The engine needs to be revved high because of the low torque of 211Nm at 5.500 U/min. But it's a sportscar and no turbodiesel: 240PS making the 0-100 km/h in 6.5 secs. If you have a little more time, you can get a 190 PS version with a little more torque. Steering is fine & direct, as in the smaller MX-5 / Miata. This is a big compliment. The RX-8 is bigger and more mature, but with 1.340kgs still a lightweight.Even with 18" rims the RX_8 has still a fine ride comfort. The brakes are powerfull with very good feel on pedal. And the EPS keeps the car on track. If you stich it off, you can balance the car with brake and accelerotor pedal. Truly a sportscar. But the RX-8 has two faces: It's also has four real good seats. Even a man with 1,80 meters could pleace himself comfortably on the back seats. Maybe not from Hamburg to Munich, but it's okay for a shorttrip. You can reach the backseats easily because of the freestyle doors. There is with 290 liters also enough luggage space. It's a great alternative to sports sedans, family fathers will have a second look at this car. The next surprise is the price: 26.300,- Euros for the 190PS-version, as much as for a Golf GTI or Alfa 156 2.0TS, the 240PS-version for 31.600,- with Bose-sytem and xenon lights. The first 888 buyer of the power version will get a Sinn-watch for free (worth 1.500,-¤)... Okay, stop laughing and try to translate the auto express testdrive in german :D Stefan |
Thanks elisemk1 for doing the translation. I hadn't thought of the fenders as being muscles before. I like the comparison. Let the praise continue!
