Mazda Introduces Limited-Edition Mazda RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version II

- All Mazda RX-8 models upgraded with anti-theft immobilizer and retractable-type key as standard equipment -

Mazda Motor Corporation announces the release of the limited-edition Mazda RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version II and an upgrade to all Mazda RX-8 models. The Mazda RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version II will go on sale at Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers throughout Japan in early October, while the upgraded Mazda RX-8 will become available on September 1.

Based on the Mazda RX-8 'Type S' model, the RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version II boasts sporty looks and a strong heart, including an exclusively tuned engine, suspension system and aero parts to further enhance the vehicle's sports driving performance. With the effective use of existing Mazdaspeed brand parts, Mazda has built a well-balanced, highly-tuned model. This model succeeds the RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version, which was introduced to the Japanese market with the limited production number of 300 in February 2004. All the former version models have been sold.

The production volume of the RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version II is planned to be 180 units.

New standard equipment on all Mazda RX-8 models includes an anti-theft immobilizer and a stylish retractable-type key. These items help enhance the feel of quality for this brand icon model.

Interesting. It sounds like the R34 V-Spec II. No factory-FI yet.

It also said something about an upgraded oil cooler. The USDM, and several other models have two oil coolers. I wonder if they will get two upgraded oil coolers.

rot8ryx 08-20-2004 01:25 AM

so this doesnt apply to the states right???? we cant get the enhancements.... right??

shelleys_man_06 08-20-2004 01:31 AM

I'm sure MNAO can pull some strings. If they didn't then why would they make an announcement, unless they're trying to tick me off.

rot8ryx 08-20-2004 02:15 AM

oh yeah it's all about the pissing us off. its what they do best it seems ;)

RX-Nut 08-20-2004 01:47 PM

Doesn't seem like much of a change.. although I do say, the water repellant windshield is a must have. THAT'S IT. I'm selling mine for this Version II.

doubleohsmurf 08-20-2004 02:01 PM

but wait, the engine is "exclusively tuned"

perhaps it will yield over 250hp...maybe

RX-Nut 08-20-2004 02:41 PM

They are probably are saying it has the latest flash.. haha.

s13lover 08-20-2004 03:11 PM

I bet with all of the engine upgrades the car makes over 250hp. Hopefully this will be like the US spec MS model when it finally arrives.

BlueFrenzy 08-20-2004 03:13 PM

Wow ... pretty sweet! Love the Mica color.

On a silly side note ... I thought this thread was going to be about chicks (Miss RX8)

Nope. the JP site linked on another thread says 250 ps.

RX-Dreamer 08-20-2004 04:55 PM

250ps is 247hp correct? That kinda sucks that a new ecu, cold air duct, muffler, highflow cat (I assume thats what they mean), and a better ground system only add 9 peak hp. Hopefully the ecu has broadened the power band alittle more.

r0tor 08-20-2004 06:51 PM

the type S is listed at 250ps... the Ver II doesn't have anything (at least from what I can tell without having the Windows japanese plug-in loaded on my computer)

Rxdriftingaction 08-20-2004 07:55 PM

woo.... mazdaspeed... cool..
but... i am waiting for the warranty expired!! then.. muhahhahahha... mod my car.. to beat evo. spank 350z's buns.. and.. kick corvette's ass. hahah... and.. let the mazdaspeed 8 c my rear light
.. hahahahhahaha.......

Which one? The "L", the "M" or the soon-to-be-released "N" flash?
