seats look cool from here, dont like the rear bumper, but i wonder if the performance specs are gonna be any different. Prolly juist a kit...

wisconsinben 12-14-2006 07:34 PM

Complete with rusty rotor hubs...YES!

chrism 12-14-2006 07:35 PM

looks like the RB kit to me

dillsrotary 12-14-2006 07:37 PM

i see coilovers!

Raptor2k 12-14-2006 07:43 PM

Way to ruin the front and rear.

RX-Hachi 12-14-2006 09:14 PM

According to the website, for approx. $36K US one gets:
- Unique MS body areo parts
- MS lightweight flywheel
- MS exhaust
- MS brake pads
- Upgraded suspension bits
- Upgraded oil cooler
- A special tuned PCM

I think I prefer the old JDM MS RX-8 ver. II over this M'z Tune.

wankleman 12-14-2006 09:21 PM

gay

Bindon 12-14-2006 09:27 PM

You would think they would fill the gaping void that is the exhaust outlet of the back bumper

UFGator12 12-14-2006 09:49 PM

I actually really like the kit. The back end is alright, but I love the front, sides, and lip. Maybe I am alone?

RX8PDX 12-14-2006 09:54 PM

Doesnt look too bad.

Wonder if we can get the upgraded oil coolers?

I dont think this should be a Mazdaspeed car though, that seems to suggest it has more power..... ooohh a lighter flywheel, BFD!

The MazdaSpeed 6 has more power.

tjbourgoyne 12-14-2006 09:55 PM

What's going on with the seats.

x-ped 12-14-2006 09:55 PM

Ewww the front and rear doesn't flow with the lines of the 8. I do like the sideskirts though.

Rootski 12-14-2006 10:27 PM

I like the front and sides, but the rear is pretty heinous.

I also don't like that it's a batch of upgrades we could just do ourselves for less.

agreed and i like the seats but just inst doing it for a true ms badge (need engine modifications)

Razz1 12-14-2006 10:53 PM

They better not use those side skirts.

That's what I have.

Oops wasn't suppose to tell you I have the first prototypes.

Take a look at the link... its not too hard to navigate even if you dont understand japenese. Looks like a new MS shiftknob, some bilstien coilovers... those seats are really really nice. In the picture of the new shiftknob: anyone know what that clear dotted thing is right below the ashtray?

Aipex8 12-14-2006 11:42 PM

It appears to be available in only one color too (if I'm understanding the website) and it looks like titanium gray. If that's the case, I'd like to get my hands on that rear lip spoiler. Other than that, it really doesn't seem like the Mazdaspeed 8 that everyone's been waiting for. I wonder how much power the PCM upgrade will be good for? 1 or 2 HP?

Is this even going to be coming to the US?

tiltmode43 12-15-2006 12:02 AM

Booh, they don't have the power specs listed for this version (in the comparison to the 6-port/6sp)

Only statistical diffs are that it weighs 10kg more and is 5mm longer

Oh, and that light may be a passenger airbag on/off

SOVINE 12-15-2006 12:05 AM

Exhaust tips wtf

What's up with the exhaust.... think it wouldn't look so...... STOCK!

Think it should look way better.

Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 12-15-2006 12:28 AM

the older mazdaspeeds where still better in my opinion. the older ones had all of those plus the shorter final gear ratio and etc. i guess this is the best they can do for the states.

N10S 12-15-2006 12:29 AM

Nice seats with an improvement on lateral support from what I can see!! The regular RX8 seats are pretty darn good so I don't feel too cheated. The Bilstein factory coilovers are also pretty cool. Overall its a pretty nice package, but not as over-the-top as I might have expected for a special. I am surprised that they didn't spec the dual cannister mazdaspeed exhaust. That and a different type of wheel and even bigger brakes...Brembo perhaps.

Its always interesting to see what the car manufacturers will pull out of the closet in creating specials towards the end of a cars lifecycle. Other than the seats, and Bilsteins it seems like the rest is fairly readily available. On the Japanese website it looked like they had a very nice gauge set which looked like Defi's perhaps?

Nice info !!

You can actually get that shiftknob now, it's a Mazdaspeed option for the new MX-5. The dotted thing is the shift pattern, since the knob says "mazdaspeed" on top.

Yes, one color, but it says Mist Silver Metallic (not Titanium).

I doubt very much that this is coming to the US. Other than the new seats and body kit, it's really not that different from the other Mazdaspeed RX-8s (ver I & II) that were released only in Japan in the past. This M'z tune is kind of like the JDM True Red version, just yet another "special version" car for the home market.

Mazda North America knows we're power hungry and won't import something as our US Mazdaspeed unless it's got a substantial performance increase, which this M'z tune doesn't seem to have.

BigOLundh 12-15-2006 01:49 AM

at $36k and less than 200 whp - this car will be a complete flop.

I agree with the above poster - i doubt this will make it to the US
