Import Tuner article

Anybody see the article in Import Tuner mag?
Racing Beat's Jim Mederer was interviewed.
Interesting cooling mod suggestions by Mr. Mederer.
I wonder how many posts he has on the rx8club forum.
That's a joke btw

Yeah i read this article... Ohh and you all forgot to mention he said " Older rotaries had fuel pump issues that needed to be address, but that the new rx8 was newer and better that it prob wouldnt have that same issue" but it was still a thing to keep an eye out for just in case.

Did he suggest that electric fans do not move air as efficiently as viscous-coupled fans?

Did he opine that operating rotaries above 208 degrees dramatically reduces engine life?

Did he cleverly keep the discussion focused on older 13bs and not realy discuss much about the RX-8/Renesis?

Why would he do that? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I guess I need to read the article. (If somebody would scan and post it.) I don't know what you guys are talking about. :dunce:

Racing Beat probably has a relationship with Mazda and doesn't want to get involved with any possible controversy regarding the reliability of the Renesis. Also, the older 13B engines have been around for a long time and they are very familiar with them.

Al, I think you're on to something. Racing Beat does indeed have a relationship with Mazda--they mention it on their site. That's why they can't list specific power gains over OEM for their products. I also seem to recall reading in one of their technical articles that they helped Mazda with the design and engineering of the RENESIS.
