gt4 comes close to the feel of the real car but no cigar..

Those times are pretty close, not what I expected. Figured that hte srt-4 woulda done a little better :p I was ,however, excited to see real numbers as well, I guess I'll have to wait.

BlueEyes 09-22-2005 11:53 AM

I just ran a 1:39:121 in an rx8 in forza motorsports on laguna. Clearly that makes me a better driver that this AJ Allmendinger character.

Feras 09-22-2005 12:05 PM

that sounds like a fake name...all men dinger...almond dinger i duno

RX-Hachi 09-23-2005 02:03 AM

I'm not sure under what conditions or how accurate these numbers are, but this website has track times for a number of cars at Laguna Seca. http://www.car-videos.com/performance/track.asp?track=2

If these numbers are to be believed, the track times in the GT4 game seem too fast. But the RX-8 and SRT-4 seem close in real life.

17. 2003 Dodge Neon SRT-4 (5M) 2:19.0 2:15.2
18. 2004 Mazda RX-8 (6M) 2:19.0 2:13.5

The first number is from a dead stop and both cars are dead even. The second number is the a flying lap time and it seems the RX-8 has the edge.

ZoomZoomH 09-23-2005 02:57 AM

yes video game times are *usually* faster than real life numbers

Luftwaffle 09-23-2005 08:23 AM

I remember reading about a racecar driver commenting on GT3 when it came out. Paraphrasing, he said that the game is pretty realistic, but in real life, you wouldn't take your $80k NSX up to 150mph on the first hairpin turn of Laguna Seca.

Something to that effect.

Glyphon 09-23-2005 09:16 AM

the spleen-pounding stiffness of the SRT-4 or the poised rigidity of the EVO IX...are undeniably better on the corners. But those cars ride so hard, they'll make your one-night-stand ditch out on you at the next stop light, even if she was a sure thing.

haha

Xyntax 09-23-2005 03:27 PM

^ Another glorious thing about the RX-8. Our cars can handle the same or better than those cars without getting ditched by a sure thing one-night chick.

BlueEyes 09-23-2005 04:04 PM

well, that is the SRT-4 ACR which I believe comes a lot stiffer than the regular SRt4. I think it's akin to the Mazdaspeed 8.

How different are the physics between the two games. I never played Forza, so I can't compare the two. I should probably go rent the game though, it seems like a kick-ass time. P.S. I will be your time :p

samsong 09-23-2005 08:17 PM

A data point: I pitted for a friend who drove his nearly stock '01 Z06 Vette at Laguna--he's no pro, but pretty darned good: he turned 1:45 times on street tires. The guys on the 'Vipers were turning about the same times. A CART car turns about around 1:00, I seem to recall.

Just buy it man. Do yourself a favor.

The physics are definitely a whole lot different than GT4, but they're still pretty realistic. The only problem I have with it is that it's really hard to judge cornering speeds without the racing line assist. I think if you mashed together the best parts of both sets of physics, you'd have a really solid game.

Fair enough. The only problem with me buying things though, is that there isn't a whole lot of money at my disposal  I've got money in the bank, but that's gotta be used on the 8. I'll figure out a way to get it though and I will beat BlueEyes time. That is my new goal once I get the game. He probably didn't respond because my grammar owned me in my previous post. Alright, brunch time, I'm outta here.

So AJ Allmendinger (Champ Car Driver) - 1.46.356 put up times right next to your friend in the vette. It's either the driver or the car... :)

This is a really good point. Video game times are usually faster than real life simply because in a game if you go flying off the edge of a hairpin all you have to do is restart, but unfortunately that's not the case in real life :/

Even if you have balls of steel in real life, weather conditions/atmospheric pressure etc all make a factor whereas the game environment is controlled. So pretty close if you ask me.

And btw Luft, love your sign man!

We'll see buddy. I'll be home in 4 days, I'll rent/buy the game and go straight to this track to practice. I'll post my times shortly after, then we'll see who's dancing. :p

Loyola NO, its right next to Tulane, both campus's are fine minimal flooding in the uptown(rich) area, uptown had power and telephone services within the first 4 days after the distaster just none of the news stations were willing to tell you that.

I'm currently in DC at "The Catholic University of America" (shoot me now) until january when spring semester starts up I'll be back in NO.
Just sucks because I can't get a hold of anything of mine clothes couple clients decals etc etc. graphic design on a laptop ain't a piece of cake either.

I'll bet that sucks. Sorry to hear it man. C'mon Polak, I know you like teh catholic schoolgirls :p Is this school giving you free tuition/housing? I know you're still paying for Loyola, it's just that I know some other schools are giving free rides for a semester or even a full year to kids who were going to school in NO. Very noble of them. Good luck with your first semester and I hope all of your stuff is ok.

PoLaK 09-26-2005 11:58 AM

not to hijack or anything, but all those things you hear on CNN are equivalent to horse shit, this is how MOST colleges are handling it tuition is comp'ed by the school you were attending, in my case Loyola pays my CUA tuition, but I have to pay Room/Board/Meal Plan up front when I got to CUA and then wait for Loyola to refund me my Room and Board for the fall semester whenever that will be.

Downside to this is Room and Board at CUA is $1000 more expensive and I don't think I'll be getting refunded anytime soon, another downside is having to pay for textbooks twice donno what’s going on with when and if I’ll get reimbursed for that.

Other Colleges and Universities are doing similar things but the reason I'm at Catholic is because schools like Boston College didn't have on campus residence, and could only offer me 2 classes a semester, Vanderbilt only 3 classes a semester, I only found one school that was doing everything out of gratis and that was Holy Cross but I didn't want to kill my self and work my ass off going there.

As for Catholic School girls I've been in catholic school for the last 13years of my life, I'm quite used to them, yes their Hot and probably filthy rich, but I've had enough of their high maintenance hot colective ass. Now you got me late for class thinking about catholic school girl ass and what I wanna do to the one I'm sleeping with way to go.

I figured not all the colleges were doing this out of the goodness of their hearts, but it would have been nice though. Hope everything works out with school...and with the girls :p
