This is the only other GX reference I could find, other than Mazda. GRAND-AM: Lotus Evora Approved For New GX Class
And it clearly isn't quite accurate in hindsight since the Evora never showed up. Nearly every article or reference to Condor Motorsports and Grand-Am / GX is dated within a few days of July 23rd, so largely repeating the same stuff. The team's website has zero information regarding it. Even the words "Lotus", "Evora", and "GX" were never used

Great article, 5 stars from me as well.
The one great piece of info I learned is that they plan to debut the GX car at the LA Auto Show.
I'll make sure to take lots of pics.

the rotary will be back, it just might take a while. In the meantime the rx8 becomes more rare...if a five year gap happens, wouldn't that INCREASE the cars value?
ps...what about replacement rotaries? Will we still be able to buy them new two or three years from now? or is that a really dumb question?

They are, in a chassis that has sheet metal making it look like a Mazda6 or CX-5 (comments seem like a CX-5, but a 6 makes far more sense aerodynamically and center of gravity height). It will be in the GX class.
Racers Edge has had a Viper off and on for 2012, makes me wonder if they are going to try to run an RX-8 as a second car just cause? Or if they gave up already.
Funny to see all the Porsche's decided to come back once there wasn't as much fair competition left.

Sorry did I miss something? This article seems to be centered around the GT class if I'm not mistaken? I haven't had the chance yet to review G/A's rules for the Cup series and update, been out too long but I think they are still allowed in that series aren't they?

Yes, they are allowed in the series through 2015 or 2016. However every 2012 RX-8 team is opting to move to a different car and/or class and/or series. This is news because it looks like Racers Edge is picking one of the old RX-8s back up. Old, because no one will be spending a quarter million plus to get a new race car ready when all of the current team's are selling theirs off.
Dempsey probably won't be in Grand Am next year, since they have ALMS cars and there is only a year till the merger.
Speedsource will be in GX class with the Sky-D
Sahlen already built their two DP cars and is testing them
Racers Edge used to have an 8, but then went to Viper this year, which is the odd point of why they have an 8 listed for next year. Unless Dodge won't support them anymore, and this is a cheap option that they know. Pure guesswork there.

I spent about 2 hours with Freedom Autosport at Lime Rock, and there was zero mention of their involvement with RX-8s.
That BGB Porsche could be quite potent. Glad to see the Cayman getting involved. But, what is "GX" about it? Alternative fuels, forced induction, and hybrid tech is the intended goal of GX, and I don't see a single bit about that in there. Just the 3.8L 911 engine in a Cayman.

Stupid question , bare with me a bit , so does that mean that our cars in a few years time would line up next to the supra and Silvia etc ?
Making hem worth more ? Or the exact opposite being low power sports car ?
