Cnet review video

http://reviews.cnet.com/2005_Mazda_R...2.html?tag=lst

What a dumbass.

NgoRX8 01-23-2006 12:49 AM

lol... we don't need all that bluetooth and ipod in here.

Raptor2k 01-23-2006 01:01 AM

The RX-8's video game looks and rotary engine give it a technology edge, but its lack of cabin gadgets keeps the focus on driving.

ROFLMAO

hemanrulez 01-23-2006 11:43 AM

CNET's reviews are meant to be based on the gadgets available inside the car. Its mostly a tech based review. The car the editor of CNET got was without a GPS and Sat Radio. Its a technology website not a car magazine for those who don't know.

QBallz 01-23-2006 01:30 PM

That quote made me laugh too. I mean seriously it's an F'in Car. Cnet = retards.

shai969 01-23-2006 01:58 PM

Hey I work at CNET. :nono:

But yea, they review cars based on tech gadgets. The true specs of the car come second.

Butch Brown 01-23-2006 02:55 PM

Keeps the Focus on Driving, I suppose that is a disadvantage for CNET. The 8 is rated 6 by them and 8.6 by users. The 350z is rated 7.3 by CNET 6.9 by users. I think they are out of touch with what the drivers like. Let them know sports cars are supposed to be for people who like driving.

BlueEyes 01-23-2006 03:20 PM

I think some of you need to evaluate the source of the review and it's priorities. It's a useful skill to have ;)

hemanrulez 01-23-2006 03:32 PM

Touche, but I guess fanboys can be a bit immature.

tiltmode43 01-23-2006 07:52 PM

No Bluetooth?!? Then what the hell did I purchase this car for??

BlueEyes 01-23-2006 08:03 PM

I don't know. Because you aren't able to evaluate sources?

RX-Aight 01-26-2006 06:18 AM

"but its lack of cabin gadgets keeps the focus on driving. "

EXACTLY why I bought the car.

Luftwaffle 01-26-2006 08:47 AM

I personally feel that if more people kept the focus on driving, we'd have less accidents on the road. :p:

Spin9k 01-26-2006 08:50 AM

He loved the car (opps but forgot to drive it?) yet had blu-tooth cellphone withdrawal? Best advice: keep him parked and yapping to his techie friends (6 rating w/no explaination - yea right)

Imidazole 01-26-2006 10:35 AM

hahaha... $31,800 without Nav... lolz

BlueEyes 01-26-2006 08:48 PM

Some people, blow my mind. And, I'm not talking about the reviewer.

Sportura_Collection 01-27-2006 01:33 AM

You talking about yourself?

BlueEyes 01-27-2006 12:18 PM

Hi Seiko boy, I do blow my mind on occasion, in a good way though. The fact that people can't read this review for what it is, boggles my mind.

khtm 01-27-2006 01:42 PM

OMG this reviewer is a moron! The RX-8 has more tech gadgets than any other car ever made!!

therm8 01-27-2006 03:48 PM

What's the point of a tech site doing a gadget review on a car with very few applicable gadgets? Seems kind of like a video game mag doing a video benchmarking review of a Palm.

rx8wannahave 01-27-2006 05:47 PM

Worse review...EVER (like comic book guy from the Simpsons)

That guy has no business reviewing cars, that sucked!

BlueEyes 01-27-2006 06:03 PM

Do you know what CNet is? what their purpose is? Let me explain it for those incapable of figuring it out.

CNet is a technology driven website. They write reviews about computers, cameras, PDA's, audio equipment etc etc etc from a technological and ergonomic standpoint. They don't really comment on things that cannot be quantified. In the case of cars, they focus on gadgets and novelties that the cars posses, not how well it drives. I would call what they write a tech review of cars, not a car review.

Why someone would pick up CNet and expect a Road & Track/MotorTrend etc type review is really beyond me. You'd have to be pretty dense.

hemanrulez 01-27-2006 07:53 PM

Forget it BlueEyes you are just wasting your breath, the one thing I've figured out from this website is that some people ARE real dense and there is nothing you can do about it. Don't let i get to you and move on. Let the fanboys keep posting.

costello 01-27-2006 10:27 PM

Seemed like a pretty good tech review to me. CNET is doing what they do best... talking about the technical aspects of things. With the popularity of IPODs and portable MP3 players most cars nowadays should come with an auxiliary port to plug these devices instead of making you buy the manufacturer's version.

Go to the Mazda USA website and click build it. Six speed and leather(no nav) $31,685. Sure we all know we can get it for less, but that is the MSRP.

tiltmode43 01-28-2006 02:37 PM

I am curious, however, of which 30k msrp cars recieved a higher score than the rx8? This is besides hybrids, obviously, due to their tech under the hood. Yeah, I'm sure people realize what cnet is yet no matter the source, they hate a bad review. Likewise, if toys 'r us did a good review, rx8 owners would haven nothing but praise. My bluetooth comment was merely because I feel that technology is a bit unimportant as far as car/cellpone communication...

Nubo 01-28-2006 11:30 PM

Did he call it a "2+2"??? I don't care how much they're focused on gadgets, that's just freaking lame.

You want tech? Take the engine control section out of the shop manual and put THAT between your cheek and gum...

Missing bluetooth is not a minor thing, considering that using handheld phone while driving is prohibited in some places. For those who spend significant amount of time on the road hands-free system is a must. Installing it was my first mod I did to the car. But I would very much like to have a dealer installed bluetooth option, considering how well it can be integrated with steering weel controls and display panel.

rx8wannahave 01-29-2006 12:08 PM

OK...I think we all know that Cnet is into technology, but it just seems foolish to me to review a car based on it's tech goodness, but then again I guess alot of people out there buy cars based mainly on how much tech it has...(sarcasm alert....sarcasm alert)

But, I guess the super nerds will base their next car on what Cnet tells them (regarding their techNESS).

Car people tend to review, observe, test, and judge cars based on car related topics/subjects so that's why so many of us think this was a waste of their time.

But…I get your point guys, no biggy…

Pete 01-31-2006 05:00 PM

You're buying a sports car. Who gives a sh*& about MPG

BlueEyes 01-31-2006 05:06 PM

It's a pretty cheap sports car, and most every other one in the same price range gets better mileage. Being a sports car isn't an excuse for inefficiency.

I'm assuming when you say "EVERY other ONE" you mean every other 'Sports Car"? Yes?

So Evo, STI, etc, ALL get better mileage?.... I don't think so. The mileage of the 8 is hotly debated, but I'd wager 17-18mpg on average is what most 'cheap' sports cars provide their owners.

BlueEyes 01-31-2006 07:01 PM

I said most every other, not every other. And yes, EVO, STi, WRX, miata, solstice, SRT-4, S2K, 350Z all have better fuel economy. On a side note, the 350z has a pretty huge fuel tank.

Am I missing something, that was not a bad review. Look who is doing the review, I'm suprise they even do cars. What he said is true in some points but points that do not really matter, but do for what their field of reviewing is based around.

Bluetooth? Not many cars offer it today, but it is something that can most certianly be marketable in any companies higher car models.

Geez people chill a little, good review is a good review. Everything said was true.

roywhitep5 02-07-2006 11:45 PM

wait a minute, i cant even check my email or refinance my home over the phone while im driving on the freeway???? why dont i just cut a hole in the floor and stop the car with my feet!
