Not surprised by the outcome - a fwd 2.0L turbo Audi TT isn't in the same performance class as our cars. The tables might have been different if the v6 awd TT was tested (but that model is even more expensive).

For those that can't view the video at work, the test results were:

Willow Springs lap times
Audi TT = 1'41.26
RX-8 = 1'39.99

1/4 mile drag race
Audi TT = 14.8
RX-8 = 14.5

If its a Audi TT coupe 2.0T manual...the results may be different...even if its FWD.

ok i just actually watched the video....they use the base model fwd 2.o convertable

get the 250p coupe quattro...it would have been a diff story.....they went easy on the 8

i actually traded in a modded a4 quattro w/tiptronic for the rx8. out of everything i test drove, the rx8 was the only thing that was an upgrade. everything else felt like a step back. i also test drove the tt. you can look at the times all you want, but the feel of the cars is the real difference. having had datsun 280z's, a prelude, an rx7 turbo II, toyota mr2 spyder, a boxster, and the a4 quattro, nothing beats a mid-engine (even if front mid-engine ala the rotary) layout. others may be faster, but you'll enjoy the drive more in a mid-engine.

They found a car in the same price range that is also billed as being a 4-seater sports car, I don't see how that is going easy...

That TT 2.0T goes 0-60 faster, around the track faster, even break better than the Rx8...

Good find, good video, drivers comments were status quo in my book.

they put it against a technically underpowered, overweight fwd convertable....and we all know reviews are made 99% of the time from what audi ( or what ever manufacturer) is willing to lend them that particular day :)

I do admit that I find the TT mkII very attractive exterior wise. When I no longer value driving experience as much and I have more coin, I would consider a Quattro version...... nah I'd get a Cayman.
