Wow, again :)

I need to spout my joy somewhere and this seems like the place. I rode in an RX8 again today, had the salesman drive it for me. =/ But it was a Ford dealership and the salesman was used to driving Mustangs all day, to say the least, he was highly impressed. I informed him all about the 9k RPM red line :P At first he was shifting like a normal car, but after i TOLD him to stay in second gear on the highway and hit the red line, he was definitely WOW'd and so was i again :) It was just amazing, it whirred all the way up to the beep, awesome, pure awesomeness. I dont know how fast we were going in that gear, my guess was like 70? But he did bring it up to 96 mph in 4th or something, and i couldn't even tell we were at that speed. The car was completely stable at that speed, more stable then the car i own right now at 20 mph :P I just absolutely CAN NOT wait until i get this car, i have gotten nothing but smiles from it :)

1 month, Mazda RX8, here i come :)

PS : I am 17, that's why i couldn't drive it myself.

Hmmm, I wonder if that RX8 was properly broke in before hitting redline?

doesn't matter - the real question is if the engine was properly warmed up before redlining. That can cause real damage

SleepeR1st 04-02-2007 05:47 PM

It was, we drove around for about 15 minutes before that.

yup the 8 is a really fun car to get, you being 17 ,is this gonna be your first car?

Stavesacre21 04-03-2007 03:02 AM

i'd imagine that if it's at a ford dealership, in the hands of someone who's used to driving mustangs, its definetely used. Break-in shouldn't really be an issue i'd assume.

at any rate, glad to hear you've been out for a spin a few times. I'd take some type of older relative with me before i'd go riding around with dealers that many more times. That has to grow tiresome...i mean, the whole excitement of the car is driving it...not riding along. Little surprised that with him driving along, he didn't even let you drive it...that's kinda odd.

SleepeR1st 04-03-2007 05:49 AM

Well i'm underaged. He said he would love for me to drive it, but because of liability issues and stuff it wouldn't be pretty if i got into an accident. No this will not be my first car, my first car is a Hyundai Elantra A/T

if you have a DL then thats horse crap.....they didnt trust you

second that. There is no more liability to a 16 year old with a drivers license then a 40 year old couple that takes it out. Yur not buying cigarettes. lol

however, if you did let on in any way that yur not ready to buy at this very minute, it sounds right down the middle. They just didn't wanna give you the wheel.

There *is* a higher risk that he might have ran the car into a pole when trying to show off though... just ask an insurance agent. *Legally* there was nothing stopping the salesman from letting him drive the car so he was just giving you BS on that part. But yeah if he let on that he was just browsing and wasn't ready to buy today, then the salesman was under no obligation to hand over the keys.

Stavesacre21 04-04-2007 08:28 AM

i was indeed speaking about legal risk, not commen sense. Sorry...shoulda clarified i guess.
