Work in Progress...help
So I just bought the BHR Ignition Kit, Reinforced Clutch Pedal, & BHR Performance Motor Mounts. I'm pretty excited. I was going to wait until I paid off my other credit card, but since the one I'm using is at a $0 balance might as well enjoy it :)
Anyways I had a check list of things I wanted to do to my car, I have an 05 White RX-8 by the way. So far internally for the engine I bought everything I could think of and I just replaced my air filter with a K&N one. Anything else I should focus on for under the hood? I know that we shouldn't mess with the exhaust because it's already great from factory. I also purchased some side skirts, they are the replica's of the Mazdaspeed. And I was interested in purchasing a MOMO Steering Wheel but decided to hold off on it because it is just purely for cosmetic. Also read that I need a hub adapter for it as well. I'm trying to purchase some wheels and I found these http://www.andysautosport.com/images...erno_black.jpg I've been looking at these for a while and I haven't really heard anything bad about the brand Speedy, few people said the wheels are not heavy at all. And they look nice, since my car is white. They have them in 18x8, 18x8.5, & 19x8.5. What should I go for exactly? I'm still debating between 19x8.5 all around, but than I figured I could do 18x8.5 in the back and 18x8 in the front? What do you guys think? And than I found these tires to go along with it http://www.andysautosport.com/mazda/...t00150049.html Is there a difference between XL or no? And is there another alternative brand that would be cheaper in price? I noticed some Falken that were around $110 per tire. I could really use your input on all this guys if you can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it, if I need to wait a bit and see if there is something better? I'm open to suggestion guys! |
Don't ever order anyhting from andy's, its all generic replica crap that does not fit, and your thought about the exhaust is false

Gratz, a good start!
Wrong move. The K&N filter is LESS filtering than the OEM one, and doesn't provide any power increase. If the OEM filter can flow enough air for the 450hp 3-rotor RX-8s, then it can flow enough for your street car. On the other hand, race teams were losing engines due to sand ingestion when they were using the K&N filter, went back to OEM and the sand ingestion stopped. A catchcan is useful, cleaning the battery terminals and grounding points. Clean the MAF, clean the ESS, get another tube to use for the coolant overflow, and run that somewhere other than where it is, like run the other end down to near the ground or at least just above the splash pan at the worst. Clean the power steering connector and/or hard-wire them to bypass the connector (only if you know what you are doing with electrical work). Check out the AutoExe steering wheel Mazmart sells. Avoid anything from Andy's, not a good reputation as a vendor, regardless of if there is anything actually legitimate that they sell or not. Also any recommendations on where to find wheels? I was on wheelfire.com and they have pretty good deals packaged with tires as well, I was on a site specifically for Mazda as well and they sold mainly Enkei's but I'm not too big on the RPF1's, not too big on their style, but love that they are lightweight. I really would like the Volk GTS but they are around $700 a wheel :crying: |
MOMO wheel wont pass any inspection as it eliminates airbag which is needed by law where the autoexe wheel does not. Personally having the autoexe wheel and their is not substitute for it.
Carefully think about your wheel choice, from the sounds of your two posts it looks like your tring to get whatever you can as cheaply as possible which will only result in a lot of problems down the road. Keep in mind that the OE wheels are fairly light in comparison and any additional mass in wheel weight will adversely effect the performance of the car. All in all 8's are not friendly to cheap owners |

Keep in mind that the OE wheels are fairly light in comparison and any additional mass in wheel weight will adversely effect the performance of the car. All in all 8's are not friendly to cheap owners For instance, I found these tires, the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO, been doing some reading this past hour on them and they seem pretty solid tires for the RX-8, a bit more pricey than the others but I rather invest in better tires. As for the wheels, I've found these http://www.wheelfire.com/imagesprodu...chined-Lip.jpg Now those tires are cheap, like $543 for 18x8 all around? Hell of a price and I've been reading about Ruff Racing Wheels and so far, they are above average wheels at an affordable price. I opted out for the Speedy wheels I had posted in my original post because you guys told me to stay away from Andy's. I'm somewhat new to all this when it comes to the rotary and RX-8, only owned my car for about a year, so I'm definitely willing to learn and especially take advice from you all here. So what do you think of the R357? I read the weights are about 20-21 pounds for each wheel? Been hard to track down the weights for wheels, not sure why it's so difficult, but apparently the stock RX-8 wheels are at 20 pounds each at 18? And also they want to charge me $50 per wheel to install the TPMS, could I remove the ones I have on my stock ones and add them to these wheels? Save me $200...lol |

Legends, I must admit it's quite impressive, visually as well as the gameplay and storyline.
