Full coverage 500 deductible anything more is covered, however it's gonna be hell trying to get the city to pay for that 500. Geico said either let them call the city but its not a for sure thing and can't give me an exact date. Or I could contact the city on my day off and do some investigating on my own on who to talk to.

I kno bro it's not like the car is totaled tho...just another set back. I already feel like crap. Lol

Coldwound 06-08-2013 04:31 PM

LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR STATE FARM IS THERE!!!.....

Dude where the hell is he?!?!?!

ken-x8 06-08-2013 04:36 PM

Why not let GEICO handle the whole thing? If the city is liable, GEICO will be dealing with them to recover whatever they pay you. They might keep a part of the deductable, but they'll do all the work.

Is the city liable? In most places a tree owner isn't liable if a tree limb falls in a neighbor's yard. Don't know if that applies to whole trees or just overhanging limbs, or if cities live under the same rules as property owners.

I'm sorry bro. That really sucks.Yeah, I would hope your agent will take care of you. Be sure to stay on top of it.
Squeaky Wheel gets the grease.

Just dents and scratches on hood door back fender tail light.... still runs ...mostly body work...would appreciate if anyone knew a really good shop in my area. I never let anyone touch my car so this is gonna hard for me..

alnielsen 06-09-2013 12:17 AM

Who oens the tree? Their home owners insurance should cover the damage. There would be no deductible.

The city owns it. I'm waiting till Monday to see what the city can do.... I wrote an email to them, but i have a feeling they won't be so compliant. My luck. As weird as it sounds I searched on the Internet and this problem is more common then I thought...wish I could get more legal advice on how to walk away from this without any grief.

pdxhak 06-09-2013 01:31 AM

I do not see how the city would put of a fight to cover the repairs. It is clearly their fault.

Any chance they provided you notice to not park your car their because they were cutting a tree down?

Also how were the city workers? Did they apologize? Or were they indifferent to the damage they caused?

The tree fell on its own overnight, the city workers were professional despite their reputation of being careless. I was watching the whole time along with the rest of the neighborhood. The city should have inspected the tree, they don't just fall out of nowhere, it took some power lines with it too, good thing it happened at 2 in the morning instead of mid day

monchie 06-09-2013 08:03 PM

I'll be pissed when this thing happens to me and i'm glad we have a garage to park our cars... :)

Anyway, i hope everything works out with your insurance and the city...good luck!

And what would have happened had that tree landed on your garage with your cars in it? You would be in worse shape than the OP.
