Check out pep-Boys. I think Mobil-1 makes a synthetic fluid now. Costs a little more but well worth it. Make sure to refill the rotary fluid as well..

Good Luck!

Use water. If you want to spend the extra cash, go to Walmart/Target and get a gallon of washing fluid for $.99.

Summer.....

Now that summer's here, fill it with the red bug cleaner formula from Walmart or Pep's.

I use some of the distilled bottled water that we use for drinking (CA tap water generally sucks). For a gallon, I mix in just 3 or 4 drops of "squeegee soap" to help deal with any oily film or bug guts. This works well enough as long as freezing isn't an issue or you don't have severe bug problems.

Tap water will leave mineral deposits, depending on how hard your water is.

I use filtered water or distilled bottled water, a couple of drops of soap, and a splash of isopropyl alcohol.

This is the best stuff because it applies Rain-X every time you use it. They now have a bug removing formulation out too. I never had any freezing up the entire winter with mine.

Huh? Didn't know this product existed. I will start using it. Rain-x is good but I never reapplied as I should so it usually sits around until I have a "detail" day (once a yr avg). Unless it's totally outrageously priced, it looks like a no brainer.

I use the RainX stuff too, it's all premixed, just pour it in.
However, it seems to leave some residue around the cap...maybe I just filled it too full, oh well it wipes off easily

Tastes just like mom's home cooking

here is the recipe I use:

2 cups
(500 ml) rubbing alcohol
70% isopropyl alcohol mixture

1 cup
(250 ml) household ammonia

2 Tbsp
(20 g) dishwashing liquid

3+ quarts
(3000+ ml) water to make
1 gallon
(or 4 liters)

hint:

use your Mr Clean on filter mode to fill the jug with water
