Windshield replacement

Has anyone had to replace their windshield? I just had to get a rock chip repaired and I asked the guy how m,uch a new one would cost...his computer didn'y have a price for one.

I had mine replaced about 6 months ago, and as I recall, it was between 450 and 485 US.

When I had my windshield replaced in my other car I asked 3 three places and got quotes. After I got the lowest qoute, I told their competitor and they beat out that price. Then I went back to the first guy and beat out the other guy's price. This could have went on for a while but I ended up paying $80 cheaper then the original quote. Good luck.

my windshield is fine...it was just a chip I had fixed but it got me wondering how much the window costs. Typically I keep glass insurance on my cars for the first couple of years. After that I remove it because the cost of the windshield is less than the cost for the insurance and deducible.

Can I ask what the chip repair cost? is it still noticeable afterwards?

This is a Canadian quote but it cost $29 for the fix and $10 for any other chips if you have them.

You can see a very small spec on the windshield but that's better than having it turn into a bir crack once it gets cold.

while cleaning my 8 last month i noticed a chip in the windshield behind my radar det.if i had not of taken the radar down to clean the window i would have never noticed it . it cost me $50.00 to have it fixed.

The chip and crack repairs they do these days are amazing. If you can get it done as soon as it happens (or as soon as you notice it ...), you can usually limit damage.

On my Acura TL, I had two chips repaired that you couldn't see at all once they were fixed. And the place that did it warranted that their repair would keep the windshield from "cracking out" off the chip.

Unfortunately, I got a hard stone it on a hot day, right near the edge of the windshield and the whole damn thing cracked across ... insurance covered all but $100 however ...

mine cracked a few months ago, but had mine replaced free through insurance because of my glass coverage. glass coverage is like $1 a month, well worth it in my book.

Why Windshield replacement was necessary for me

Cracked windshields are such a common issue, especially in places with rough winters and gravel-heavy roads. I had mine replaced last year, and I learned that it's important to go to a shop that actually cares about proper installation. If you’re in Calgary, you might want to look into windshield replacement services Calgary that prioritize quality over speed. Calgary Car Detail is one place that does a solid job, ensuring the glass is installed properly and that all safety features work as they should. Definitely worth considering if you want it done right the first time!
