will the RX-8 still be in 2008?
Anybody know if mazda will keep producing the 8 for many years down the road? I don't have the cash now but i'm saving like crazy.

look for the rx-9 in 2008.
My guess would be that it all depends on sales. |
with such strong sales, why wouldn't it be around in 2008, 4 years from now? look historically:
rx-7 gen 1: 1978 - 1985 (6 years) rx-7 gen 2: 1986 - 1991 (5 years) rx-7 gen 3: 1992-1995 (3 years) (us production) : 1992 - 2002 (jdm production) the gen 3 lasted 3 years and rx-8 sales already surpassed the whole us production numbers for that time period. edit: added japan production |

I sure as hell hope it is, because I plan on trading mine in for a better, faster model in 2007 or 2008. It's still too early to say though if it will make it until then. One thing is for certain, if it makes it to 2008, this car will be like the eclipse. You will see them EVERYWHERE, and it will be a dime a dozen car. Personally I don't mind that at all. The more rx8s on the road the merrier. :)

not a dime a dozen
i think they can only manufacture 60,000 per year due to the fact that they hand-build the engines and only have the one plant. correct me if im wrong.

Just curious as far as the truth behind the engines being hand built. Thats the first time I heard of that. Is there truth behind it?

I'm sure the RX-8 will still be around in 2008, it will probably be an updated and improved version by then. One of the reasons Mazda had to pull the 3rd gen 7 was that they were pretty much bankrupt at the time, whereas Honda continued to sell the NSX. Mazda is doing very well overall right now, and I'll bet that the 8 will outsell the 7 simply because it is a much more practical car.
Also, I doubt the 8 will ever be as common as the Eclipse. It's a bit more expensive, it's RWD, and the insurance will probably be much higher for younger drivers. Remember that the Eclipse has the cheap 4-cyl version that just about anyone can afford to drive and insure. |
your right pret there probly is alot but I didnt thing any new cars were still at all hand bulit.
Excuse me. |
Hey i did see a RX-2 I think... Or a Rx-1 a month back. It looked like a Geo!
