so me and my friend with his integra gsr stopped at a stoplight and kinda just fucked around up to the speed limit he did break traction next thing we know theres a cop pulled us both over and gave us a racing on highway ticket? i'm scared about whats gonna happen i am 17 and this is the first time ive ever been pulled over by a cop so has anyone ever gotten this ticket?

really, fighting that ticket is pointless. I don't know anyone who has won. Had a friend in HS get the same ticket for going 20 in a parking lot...I hate to tell you but you're screwed

bkkkk93, lawyer up. At your age, you may loose your license for a period of time along with the fine. A lawyer may be able to talk to the DA & the Judge and get the charge reduced.

in Many state, if you break the tire's traction lose on purpose, it is automatically considered a "racing" except when you're just trying to get out of Mud/snow conditions.

lessons learned. dont even try to street race (even its just fuck around with friends, cops never look at it that way)

the fact that it was two young guys in sports cars accelerating hard led the officer to believe you were racing.

because you broke the law and got caught.
you're only 17, you're gonna be screwed. Tell your parents, be prepared to spend some money TRYING to fight this in an attempt to get the charges reduced or you could be in serious trouble.
be fortunate they didn't impound your cars.

In CA street racing = impounded car and CRUSHED car. Seriously, some counties here have the right to destroy your vehicle for street racing.

Yeah at this point you're screwed as said before. If you lawyer up and get lucky, you'll get a reckless op vs. racing and only lose your license for 6 months vs. 3 years or more. Reckless Op will net you high risk insurance, racing will get you dropped and if you're under your parents plan, you could be risking them being dropped by the insurance company as well.

The cop is not a dick, he's doing his job. To you it's screwing around, to him it's racing. Even if you never broke the speed limit, it's still illegal and to him, he's stopping what could be a potentially bad situation.

Seriously though... All you can is try to paint a picture to the judge that you're a good kid, good grades, on the right path, etc. And hope for a small fine, 6 month license suspension and a ton of community service.

However, if you're not anything like the person on the list above, the judge will know it make sure you don't drive anything for a long time.

Oh... and may want to check with your insurance to see IF you're able to get conditional driving privileges (school and work) how much its going to cost. They may just drop you. I see a Cavalier in your future...

I've never gotten 'racing', but I did get reckless driving when I was under 18. This is also in VA, I had to go to a class and do 25 hours of community service.

Once you turn 18, juvenile driving offenses are omitted from your record.

most places, once you squeel the tires you are screwed. Normally it is placed as reckless driving.

^ yeah i know your record is wiped when you turn 18 but idk about racing coz thats a SERIOUS offense ... however if you lawyer up you have a chance to beat it seeing you didnt break traction nor did you break the speed limit ... it also depends on the conditions and traffic .. if you get a lawyer it could go either way but i wouldnt keep my hopes up

When i was 17, in the great state of Alabama, i got caught racing my Mazda 626 against my friends Subaru Legacy. Lol. Went to court, judge sentenced a defensive driving class specially geared towards juveniles, spent a saturday in some training annex somewhere and completely had everything dropped. Well, had to pay $60 bucks for the 8 hour class but besides that i got away scott free. The one or two times since then i've pled guilty, and before court did every internet/classroom defensive driving course i could so i would have certificates to present. www.drivinguniversity.com comes to mind.
If they still throw the book at you, i'd say appeal it and THEN get a lawyer.

In the end i think it comes down to your state and even the specific judge's mood, though... :-/

I agree with those that said get a lawyer. It will be expensive but worth it if he can save your license/points/fine amount.
