Who framed Roger Rabbit?

I did; dead-square within my driver's-side lower air intake! Roger ran out in front of me from left to right this morning and I ran out of road and time to miss him going right. He impacted just where my left foglight is, and shattered the mount for it. The light itself is OK. It just shattered the black plastic that goes around it.

I have a feeling this will be a new light assembly and a PITA to install.

So, for Cool-Blue-Dad...Eat More Rabbit Too!

Too bad to hear about your incident with Roger Rabbit. Must admit i had a few chuckles at your way of putting it. And if it is any consolation the bunny got the payback instantaneously. God punishes in the afterlife but an RX-8 dishes out punishment freely, right here, right now.

I hope you get your RX-8 patched up in no time!

Ug, any chance of a repair? The body shop that fixed my deer damage claimed they could do wonders with their plastic repair kits.

Heh heh, thanks for remembering me. I'll shoot a rabbit for you tonight (or have the wife run over one in her van).

Sorry to hear you got a live one. Coincidentally I had a rabbit near-miss a couple of nights ago. Mostly, I've had to dodge other people's road-kill lately, but that's a lot easier than trying to second guess a moving target.

Wait till bunnygirl reads this thread.......she is not going to be happy.

I got a squirrel by the tail this morning, I thought I missed him entirely since I did not hear a "THUD" or "WHACK" or "WAM", but his furry little tail was left in the road and he was no where to be found, poor guy, at least he got to keep his nuts....

Yeah they were in his cheeks right? :D:

It was a big ol' Texas Jackrabbit. I still need to look underneath when I get home and can get dirty, but I don't think I have any body / structural / oil cooler damage. I believe I caught him in a squat and primarily his head made contact. I'll try to find him on the way home (just outside my neighborhood), but here the dead critters don't lay around long. The buzzards probably have him.

Thanks for the sympathies...and sorry to Bunnygirl. Bunnygirl, this was a Hare; nowhere near as cute as a Bunny. :-)

how often do you guys see animals in the road?

Parmer8 04-13-2006 04:01 PM

Watch out for the dreaded Jackalops!!!

Here in upstate NY? Several per mile on the rural roads and highways and I drive several miles to work one-way. Gotta keep the vents on recirculate - the fresh air isn't so fresh.

I can't find the smilie for this so," This thread is worthless without pics". :yelrotflm

Chrisbert 04-13-2006 09:38 PM

I didn't see the Rabbit on my way home so he either lived long enough to get out of sight or got eaten by buzzards.

I'll try to get a pic of the busted light.

This is the exact reason I refuse to run over cats in my 8.

After BunnyGirl reads this thread, she just might sell her RX-8 and get the up-and-coming VW Rabbit. :rollingla

Broken Housing, huh? I'd be more than happy to trade you some $$ for the glass, if it's intact! Seriously. LMK.

Sorry to hear about your hit and run, though

canaryrx8 04-16-2006 12:12 AM

did it have big gnarly teeth and go.....? lol ok I'll stop with the Monty Python reference already :D:

Chrisbert 04-18-2006 06:31 AM

I've been kidding a buddy at work who grew up in Atlanta, TX (I grew up in Atlanta, GA) about his HS football team named the Rabbits. I think I'm about due a beating. Hehe.

Anyway, I had it at Mazda yesterday, and they recommended I change out the whole assembly. However, you can buy just the mount / bezel piece. Assembly & Install = $385 and you don't even get a reacharound. Bezel = $55.

I'll be pulling it off soon to see where I truly stand on parts. MadDash, I need to verify that the remaining glass assembly is really OK once I have it out. It took a good whack and I want to make sure there aren't any HARE-line cracks in it.
