Who do I have paint some lines on my car.

Pardon me if this is a silly question but:

I am thinking of having a couple of thin red & blue stripes painted along the length of my RX8 (when I get it) along the upper curves of the hood/wheel cowlings and upper edges of the sides to accentuate the curves of the car.

I have no idea who does this kind of work?
Does one actually use paint or is it some kind of stick on striping material.
How much should it cost? (A couple of hundred dollars, more?)
Do I ask the dealer to refer me or what?

Hopefully I will find someone with some creative balance as I want this to be subtle and discrete. If you know what I mean.

Thanks,

Claude H.

Both methods are used. A good paint shop can paint stripes. Be careful and get one that is into custom work rather then repair work.

I also have friends who work for detailing companies who will put on vynl stripes made by 3M and other companies. One friend has the equipment to cut shapes like cartoon characters if you want.

Many dealerships add stripes to cars after they show up but then add their own markup to the cost. See if you can find out who they use in your area.

Without wanting to sound rude.... Why?

I can't picture it myself without it looking awful.

Try Photoshopping something along the lines of what you're thinking of or ask someone else to having given them a more detailed description, but I think the RX8 looks fantastic as it is and just can't picture what you're describing looking good on it.

Well,

It is a thought for me. I was thinking of 2 thin 1/4" or 3/8" stripes one red, the other blue, running along the outer edge of the recessed portion of the hoodline on back just below the side mirrors, following the curve of the side panels to the rear quarter of the car.

I have two IDENTICAL twin boys, around 8 1/2 years now and they were so alike that I could not see the dif between them when they were younger. So I had one wear something in red, the other in blue to tell them apart. It kinda stuck, people got used to it, the teachers appreciate it (it helps in school) and the kids now have chosen their favorite color. Guess what colors each one chose!

Anyway, they each want me to get a car in the color of their choice.

My solution: Titanium with stripes, albeit it thin iones and only if it adds to the cars alure.

You asked!
