White, 2005, lowered, RX-8.

I am looking at a 2005 RX-8 6-speed. It has 63,000 miles on it, it's lowered and it looks awesome! Looks like someone has really taken care of it. I have read pretty much everything I could find to read about the RX-8's, I love them. I currently have a 2004 Mazda 6s 5 speed.

I want to hear some of your opinions on purchasing this car. I had also read on this site that I can call Mazda and ask them if the engine has been replaced. I just hope this wouldn't be a bad decision to purchase an 05 with fairly high miles... :dunno:

63k on an '05 wouldn't be considered high mileage. And yes, Mazda (most likely your local dealer) could tell you the replacement status on the motor. Did you happen to see what the build month was on the door label?

It's hard to give you a good opinion without seeing the car or knowing what kind of shape it's in, but if it's in good shape, get it and you'll love it.

I think if you obtain the VIN from the owner and give that to Mazda, they could provide informations of what was done with the car.

What I always say is just go to a dealer and test drive a new one. Get a good feel for how everything operates. Clutch, Throttle, Response, Shifting, Steering, smoothness of ride, anything you can think of. Then go test drive the used one you are looking at and decide if it would be a good investement.

Thanks everyone. Sorry, the price they are asking is 10,500. I did actually test drive a brand new left over 2010. Thought about getting it but I don't know if I wanna spend that much money. They want 22,000 for it. No pics, but I will try to get some

Will look at the build month when I go back to test drive this coming week!

Consider this:
22000 for a new car with a warranty (that become 20 the moment you pitch the cash at them) or 10.000 for something that will need some maintenance as soon as you get it?
Coils, plugs, wires.
Clutch\clutch pedal?
Brake discs life?
Complete service (7\8qts of engine oil, 2+2 transmission and differential).
Tyres
Suspension may be dying at 60k miles, depending on where they drove the car.
Oh, both the engine and catalyzer may be dying.

Consider the price difference very well, do the usual tests before buying a wankel car and make up your mind :)
