Where's the Best Factory Service in L.A.?

If you check out this thread, you'll see the problem a friend of mine is having with his car. To compound it, the dealership in Long Beach where he's taking it apparently has no clue. So ...

Where is the best (or a very good) factory service department in L.A.? Thanks.

I've gotten pretty good service so far from Cerritos and Galpin in Van Nuys. Both seem pretty competent.

Thanks, Mr. Extreme!

Any other places, esp. in the South Bay area?

I haven't had any problems with service I've had at Santa Monica so far. They haven't screwed my car up or anything if that's what you're looking for. They are, however, not as responsive or receptive as I would prefer (I'm used to the treatment I get from AUDI). And be warned they are often understaffed with rotary technicians.. As far as I know, I've only seen the same guy, so I think they only have one, but he has done a good job so far.

But yeah, you have to do all the asking and talking to get them to respond, seems they just want to fix the car and give it back to you without any questions or answers. Lead-time for appointments is about 2 days, not bad.

God I wish I had the same luck. My office is nearby to them, so I made an appointment there last week because my 8 is idling roughly - I specifically stated that it was an 8, it was idling roughly, I wanted to make sure it had the M flash while it was in, etc, plus I wanted an oil change. Arrived there at 8am Monday morning - "oh, sorry, the Mazda tech isn't in today." "but I made an appointment! why didn't they know that Friday when I called? when will he be back?" "maybe in a couple weeks?"

WTF?

I have yet to get it looked at :/

I will have to go with Outlaws. As I commute to the south bay, I have yet to find any new dealers out here. I went to Cerritos and it seemed to be alright. PM ifubar who works over at cerritos. he knows the techs out there and can recommend one to you

far from long beach, but galpin is very good

I live in Long Beach, but I bought at Heritage in HB. I have heard their service is good, and I spoke with the Cerritos service center prior to purchase, they seem up on the 8.

Galpin in Van Nuys

Outlaws eXtreme 07-21-2004 01:01 AM

I like Galpin because you can actually see them working on your car and not treating it like a rag doll. Besides, their service staff is usually pretty nice... I went over to the Jaguar dealership to browse around while I waited on my oil change... fun stuff to look at.
