Never seen it. Kind of like the polished rings around the gauges.
Whats wrong? It's an AT for one... (I'm an ex-AT owner).

Phantom Menace 01-07-2007 03:40 AM

I've never seen the inside of an AT, but isn't the fuel guage on the wrong side? That, and yeah, they don't redline at 9k...But Eyeball said it already.

kalix 01-07-2007 03:43 AM

yeah it's an AT that redlines to 9k. thought i would just share this weird finding.

it's RHD so fuel gauge is on opposite side as in US 8s.

Romeo 01-07-2007 04:26 AM

also, the button to set the Trip and the other button that toggles the mph/ km/h is Silver on the pic. mine is black :D

nycgps 01-07-2007 06:29 AM

Photoshoped ?

Good luck revving the ATs to 9K buddy.

mysql101 01-07-2007 06:55 AM

amazing he's going 888 mph AND kph at the same time. I guess it's where the torque and hp curve finally met.

ken-x8 01-07-2007 09:39 AM

I'd guess that it was shot in a studio, possibly with the steering wheel off. Maybe even just a dashboard. They powered up the cluster without the car running. The 8's are just all of the segments of the LCDs on.

you can hold the ODO reset button while turning the car to ACC to enter test mode, which does similar things.

WantedTwo 01-07-2007 12:29 PM

I know.... it needs more cowbell :D:

Chrisbert 01-08-2007 06:07 AM

The fuel gauge reads nearly full...very unlikely.

RotaryP7 01-08-2007 07:21 AM

Hmm.. I don't see anything wrong..

NoTears316 01-08-2007 08:11 AM

No pie?

volk 01-08-2007 08:27 AM

the oil pressure guage is reading to the left of the halfway point?

never seen that before.

It is a picture they use on the site to show the gauges I guess.

These are the quick pics of manual Hi-Power RX-8, left side steering wheel, sorry about the quality, my hands were probably shaking...

Redline is 9000 RPM
Also no gears are indicated on display.
And max speed is not 888, but 688, where number 6 is rotated vertically.

So there is a lot wrong with the pic on the first post:
redline should be 7500, and max speed should be 688, where 6 is vertically reversed.

You should be able to get all the indicators on your display with the following procedure:

Hold down the tripmeter reset button, and turn your key to "ON" position and hold down the button for 2 seconds.
word "test" should appear. After that just press reset-tripmeter button multiple of times to get variuos information displayed.

Take a photo with flash in your car and you'll be surprised how much dust shows up.

the left gauge & right gauge need to be switched in position- ie oil & trip meter on the right, temp on the left. :)
