Question What's new for 2005?

OK, you insiders.

Aside from the Sirius satellite radio, what changes are due for the 2005 model year and when should I expect examples at my local dealer?

Mechanical changes?

Color changes?

Bluetooth?

More informative pressure monitor that gives individual tire pressures and temps like http://www.teammiata.com/smartire/demo/demo.html?

So, like the RX-7, white comes in during the second year. Does it again replace yellow?

As far as a searches are concerned, the phantom electric-assist turbo shows up, as well as the Sirius radio, but not much else. If I thought the web had the answers, I wouldn't have genuflected to the oracle that is the RX-8 forum.

Still looking for info... :-)

Whoa! 6-speed sequential *MANUAL* gearbox???

Not a paddle-shifted automatic like the 2004, right?

The 6-speed is such a nice unit, but the wife has left knee problems, so...

And where do the 25 hp come from? ECU, porting, and breathing? Or was that a joke about the key? :-)

so far the only confirmed major change for '05 is the addition of white and subtraction of yellow from NA market.

all these transmission stuff are rumors at this moment.

I'm holding out for an '05, but I certainly don't have any expectations regarding the above.

Where did this rumor come from?

I'm dreamin about the 6-speed sequential but I have a feeling it's not going to happen this next year. Though if it does I'll be sure to jump on getting my 8 then a lot sooner.

The rumour came from me (almost a year ago), but it's stated wrong above - the 5 speed auto and 6 speed SMG are to be options for the 2006 model year RX-8, NOT 2005.

Regards,
Gordon

VW key from my 99.5 Golf shown open and closed compared to the RX8 key. The Fob's the bit with the electronics in it if I'm not mistaken. By definition, it's just the attachment to the object, in this case, the key fob.

I like the VW key much more, If I can re-order a key for my 8 with a VW style fob, that'd be awesome.

$200 to $300 seems on the high side. Then again, most of this stuff is on the high side!

If it is that type of key it is laser cut and I believe it still has a chip. My Lexus key cost me $120 which was laser cut.

Paying $200-300 for a key is a bit much, but if you have the money to waste more power to you. I'm sure it will look pretty pimp. But then again ordering the rotory key would be even pimper, and a little more original.
