Whats the largest engine that fits the rx8?

mscamp02 09-12-2010 12:50 PM

largest one ive seen someone put in was a carbed 383 but that took some extensive mods, ls1 swaps I wont say are common but are one of the more common swaps next to other rotary swaps

Im thinkng a 26B is pretty nice.

equals how much money do ya have. :)

engine bay is huge in rx8, but you would lose the power to weight and "feel" of the amazing steering with most swaps. LS1 would be awesome though!

mscamp02 09-12-2010 12:57 PM

26b is hardly the largest which is what OP is requesting

Pico 09-12-2010 03:05 PM

its all a matter of money

where there's a will there' a way

Who needs 9000rpm when you have 108,920 hp, and 5,608,312 lb/ft at 102rpm?

Loki 09-12-2010 04:38 PM

It'll be tight, but I think this can realistically fit. You can make a custom boiler that fits better, and you'll have to do something to fit a smokestack to the body lines, but other than that it's fine. You might even add more pistons. You're ok with keeping some coal in the backseat, right?

But seriously.. 2JZ, SR20DET, LSx have all been done. Depends what your power goals are...

DocBeech 09-13-2010 05:59 AM

+1 on the steam engine, jay leno pulled over 100mph in it, what more do you need lol.

VashGS 09-13-2010 06:40 AM

Not true.
you wont lose BUT gain power to weight ratio (with right choice of engine). What you will lose is the 50/50 weight distribution. but that can be obtained or at least close if you are willing to move some stuff around. Just clarifying Gory
