Why do the prices dropped?

why have th prices of these cars dropped so much ?
04 are selling around 10K for example

I am attracted to the handling characteristics and good looks of this car, I am shocked Mazda can deliver such a nice sporty car

but the price drop makes me question a purchase because ( is there something to stay away from ) and the company ( coming from and AUdi and MB owner to a mazda) how does that look to the neighbors

, SLs & 911s etc are stilll holding good prices between 20-30 K and they are older than this the 8. The 911 came out in 99 and its still a 30K car, where as the rx8 is already 10K, even boxsters are holding their value.

Also,

having driveng Audis MBs and possibly a Porsche in the future,..and going to a mazda might look bad to the ladies? is there any potential problems to be on the look out for ?).

My guess is that they are just coming out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I don't get your argument. Older 911s are classic (and more or less collectible) cars. A '99 911 isn't really a classic, but the MSRP was probably around $70-90k, wasn't it?

MSRP of an RX-8 was around $25-30k.

Percentage wise probably similar depreciation. The Porsche costs a lot more to purchase new so the actual dollar amount lost is more.

So a $90k Porsche is worth $30k now...1/3rd.

...and the RX-8 is worth how much?

Do the math.

Well StealthTL was a little more blunt than me but the jist is the same. Percentage wise both cars dropped around the same amount.

I will try to play nice. You really cannot compare a Mazda to high end 911's, BMW's, Audi's, MB's. You are comparing car's that have two to three times the price of the RX-8. I posted awhile ago that you can get a used Maserati Quattroporte for about 50 grand used(new over 100k just look on ebaymotors). That being said, the RX-8 resale value has never been that good when you can walk out the door with a brand new loaded RX-8 for about 25k. It sounds like you are a very vain person if you are worried about what your neighbor's think, or if it will help you get girls. I have never had to use a car to pull a girl, and if I did, that's not a girl I would want to be with(someone will always have a better car).

Save yourself the trouble and go ahead and get a 911, BMW, Audi, or Mercedes.

As people stated above, the prices for both 911's and RX-8's has dropped about the same.

As to why people compare 90k dollar cars to 30k dollar cars is beyond me.

because they both handle about the same...I think that because of the low center of gravity..but prestige is a different story

ALL sports & luxury cars loose value very fast

Also, if you are trying to get girls with the car, go for the most expensive looking one you can find & don't forget the "I'm compensating" bumper sticker

Is there a potential problem to look out for was the last question you asked gambino. The 04 RX8's will have a resale that we can all confirm is crap because it was the first year of introduction and it was also the year with many failures related to oil injection. The RX has since been flashed with a newer map and this is no longer an issue. but the reputation of failure lingers like a dead horse.

Is this even a serious thread? do you know anything about cars, pricing, and especially depreciation? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no....

If you go and look at any first year vehicle the price is always significantly lower than subsequent years because the first year models generally still have one or two "bugs" with them. As far as the rx8 goes it has been reflashed by mazda dealers and if you get one that hasnt been for some reason any mazda dealer can do it for you.

And if your thinking of buying a 30k used porche or a 10k used rx8 I think you need to re evaluate your thinking because who the hell has a 20k range on what car they are going to buy unless of course your looking at 100k + cars.

Personally I think your just the type of guy who likes to talk smack and pretend hes going to get something kinda expensive such as your 99 porche in order to compensate for personal deficiencies between your legs when in reality your just like everyone else with a small budget (10 to 15k) and your just trying to look cool

You've owned MB's and Audi's and don't understand the concept of depreciation? Of course a ******* 10 year old Porsche is gonna be worth more than a 5 year old Mazda, but the percentage of depreciation from new msrp will be almost equivalent per year. Now stop bragging about your parents cars and take whatever they give you.
