what's the current market for a 2011 RX8 R3 like?

** Not selling here, just looking for market feedback***
Looking at selling my sons 2011 R3 and while I don't have a great deal of experience with these cars, there seem to be very few on the market and little for me to compare against.
Some info on the car - its in pretty good shape but does have some minor flaws and wear and tear.
about 90k miles, Racing beat short tube headers, BHR High flow mid pipe, HKS Hi-Power cat back exhaust, BHR coils,
AEM Air intake, upgraded rear view mirror back up camera,
Also have an additional racing beat dual exhaust we pulled off I will throw in...
Just put some new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on it a few months ago.
Purchased it from a private seller in Flagstaff AZ in January of 2019. Car is currently located in St. Louis, MO.

Not trying to sell the car here, I am just looking for some feedback on what I should be asking, expecting, etc.... Thanks

Value is going to depend on engine compression. Has it been compression tested? 90K miles is alot of miles on this engine assuming its stock. Not sure how much life is left (though R3's are much better in regards to engine durability from what I understand)
Assuming compression is good, with your mods, your looking at somewhere in the $10K ballpark considering you said it has some wear and tear. Assuming the compression is bad though, and its probably less than $5K

I agree with the guy above

bringatrailer and carsandbids

While these don't represent true values, they represent values people are willing to spend right now

given how many “went full R3-tard”s we see come and go in here, you might come out pretty good … :suspect:

I JUST bought an S2 (on the road for real for the first time today), and was looking for either a GT or R3. Mostly saw R3s. The really clean, low mile ones in desirable colors were listed with a mode (most frequently recurring) price of $17K, and an average slightly higher. I didn't get silly with a spreadsheet or anything, just anecdotal from memory. I wasn't looking at anything that could be described "rough" in any way, and wasn't looking at anything with more than an absolute max of 75-80k miles. Sale price and list price are not the same thing, and actual sale prices are likely somewhat lower (I closed on mine 23% under asking, for example). There are a lot of cars that sit on the market for a long time because the price is wrong for the car, while a well priced car won't last long. Modifications from stock don't really add value, and can only detract from it. I would think realistically, you're likely in the $13-15 range with what little information there is to go on. Only direction with more info is down. This is my unprofessional, but recently experienced with my own money on the line opinion....

@speed7 watches the S2 and specifically R3 market like no one I've ever seen in any corner of the automotive hobby, and if he says anything counter to what I've said, defer to him without hesitation.

Yeah.. you're going to need lots and lots of pictures, compression numbers, full Carfax history. Taking away the mismatching front and rear brake rotors and the Mazda symbol that's been swapped out. It could go for somewhere close to $13-15.. but the engine has to be healthy. While I like to see these cars go up in value.. if someone needs a rebuild soon, then it's just any other series 2 Rx8 with nice seats and cosmetics. Before covid, in 2019.. this car could have gone for somewhere around 8-10k depending on what the milage was.. assuming in the 60k range. Also it's best to have a full service history. You can contact your local Mazda dealership and see if any service was done early in the cars life by previous owners.
