what vin? what month?

ive heard of alot of little problems with the rx-8, the ac, the m-flash, very low milage ect. My friend is planning on buying an 8, what vin number or production month is the best bet of him getting a better car, thanks

I dont know if the vin # will matter or not.

i have an early 8 built in 04/03 so far it has needed all the fixes and did start out with bad mpg.. but after m flash its all good.

Im having est. 15mpg since I bought it. (650miles now w/o dsc,tcs)

Mine is built in april, 2004. Does it have the m-flash?

I think it should do at least 18mpg, right?

according to this:

VINs that ends with digits greater than 35536 would be best (as it should come with the 'M' ECU flash from factory), plus whatever updates/fixes that have been TSB'd for earlier builds.

that's what I've been doing searching the VINs on MazdaUSA website, and thus far I've found ONE RX-8 in my area that I want that meets the VIN requirement.

I think if you get in your car. Put you key in. Turn it till the lights are on then pump the brake peddle fast 20 times. You will see you oil lamp on the right go up 1/2 way then back down.
