What size rim on a 2006 Sport Package

Was hoping someone could tell me what size the rim size is on a 2006 Sport package with MT. I thought all Sport package cars had the 16 inch wheels. Talking to a local dealer who says the MT Sports come with 18's and that the 16's are only on the AT cars. Can anyone confirm/deny this. I really want the 18's and don't want to drive an hour only to find out they're 16's.

Also - any comments on what kind of deals people are getting on new 06 cars which have some pretty attractive rebates right now. The car I'm looking at is a 2006 MT Sport package with a sticker price of $28,295. Dealer is saying they'll sell it for $22,386 (plus fees which is the kicker....appreciate any comments of what fees from Mazda are customary - destination only?).

Thanks!

All MT cars come with 18" wheels. AT come with the 16" fatties. I believe.

Every manual transmission RX-8 ever sold in the US, from '04 through '07, had 18" wheels standard.

Regarding the price, they should be able to do better. I know a guy locally who bought a new '07 Sport + Performance Package (same as '06 Sport Package) for less, and another friend just bought an '06 Base with 6000 miles for less than $18k.

BTW, "plus fees" usually means destination, tax, title, and license. You'll have to check your local gov't about what the tax rate is on new car purchases, plus title and license (registration) fees.

A 2006? They'll do anything to sell it to you. When I was doing research on them, I found that invoice price minus the $4k rebate ended up being 22-something. However that $4k rebate ended on April 2nd. I have seen no indication for rebates for 2006 RX8's on the mazdausa.com web site, but I'm sure it still exists.

I would call Mazda to make confirm what the rebate is. It might be even more. Go to kbb.com to get the invoice price of the car you want, subtract rebates, and make the offer for the number you come up with. Then tell them you'll give them that much money plus tax, tag and title plus NOTHING ELSE. Tell them to call you when they're ready to make the deal. You have the upper hand. They don't want that 2006. Trust me. Don't pay any fees.

Note: Don't trust any info the dealer gives you. You arrive with your own exact numbers, and tell them that's the deal you'll make. Do research. Save money. This car depreciates so fast, you'll thank yourself in a few years.
