What other Mazda had you owned before the RX-8?
'81 RX-7
'95 Miata (leased...about cried when I turned it in)
'90 Miata (still have it...harrassed and whined enough about my '95 that the wife finally caved
)
Best automaker on the planet IMHO, though my '97 Maxima was a damn good car too.

First post to this forum....
My first Mazda was 1980 Glick (GLC) with the great TV commercial tag line, "its about time for a Great Little Car..."
Then:
1986 626
1990 626
1991 626 GT 5 door
1993 626 ES V6 5 spd manual <- drove until it died at 200,000 miles
My daughter drives a 2002 Protege 5.
We still own a 1979 RX7 Limited Edition that runs but we are restoring.
I don't own an RX8 yet, I plan on buying one within the next year now that both of my kids are off to college(my son is pissed at me for that). I joined so I could do research and learn the quirks before buying. The info learned so far is much appreciated! I have had the 79 RX7 for more than 15 years so i am familiar with many of the issues with owning a rotary and I know about the mpg thing so no worries there.

I have a 95 Mx-3 stick.
This will be my last Mazda, after corp did not help me in any way.
Will sell the Mx-3 next year and get a small SUV
Do not know how long I will keep the 8.

My first was a new 1987 B2000 pickup, joined by a new 89 626. After the 626 was totalled by our new driver (the boy) we bought a new Protege 5 which is now my daily driver. The 2004 8 is still kind of special although I bought it used (4K miles) and lives pretty much in the garage.
My parents brought my little sister home from the hospital in an 808 wagon. (I was brought home in an Opel Manta)
I remember my dad replacing the timing chain on the 808 and our dog chewed out the passenger sun visor. They replaced the car with a '63 Impala when the timing chain ate through the block in 1980 or so.
I owned a 94 Miata for a long time, but I got sideswiped in it by a felon in a van with expired plates, and the cops didn't do anything about it when they caught him, even though I identified him.
I bought the '8 after my beloved E30 325i transmission sprang a leak and lost 1st and 2nd gear. I also own a 1950 Chevrolet pickup truck.
