PROBLEM SOLVED! It turned out that only two wires had been cut, and two others were slightly frayed. We were able to solder the two back together, and tape up all 4. It was such a relief to turn the car back on and see that engine light go away!! It only ended up costing around 300 or so, which included an oil change and oil filter replacement. They charged us to take the harness out and remove all clips inside the car. Today we were able to solder the wires back as I mentioned before, and then reconnect all the connectors (pain in the ass). We just could not find where to connect the windshield wiper wire in the engine bay area. Does anyone know where this goes? We just have to reconnect all the plastic coverings and a few plastic clips. I even managed to reconnect the power wire for the amplifier, and sub sounds great. Thanks to everyone for their advice, it was definately very helpful. Thanks, Greg

i feel your pain
yeah wiring problems car be scary especially when you don;t expect them. me and my buddy vince took all day to service his FC. we removed the pulsation damper. changed the injector O rings and every other possible thing to prevent an engine fire and to give it a nice tune up. now fast forward 15 hrs till the next day. i get a phone call. its vince he asks me if i can come help him. he had an engine fire. defective injector O ring...

wow, dam, that makes my problem seem like nothing. I will deifnately be extra careful next time I try install anything on the car again. Why go fast and then waste even more time trying to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place?? Thats Crazy :Eyecrazy:

fixed I agree that in rare cases you could actually make a sensor read incorrectly. If done right, it should be okay and for sure worth a shot before you go and spend $4k for two broken wires because some dealer want to change the harness. If one was really worried(and actually I would go look), one could look at the wiring diagrams and see what wires you'd be splicing before doing so. Even at that, if it didn't work or cause a major problem(unlikely), then you could still go the other route. |
