What do I want to do with my car??!!

So, I'm trying to decide which way to go about mods and what not now so I can start to save / research.

Auto X seems fun, but I wouldn't want to use my car lol.
Drag racing again looks fun, but I would have to get a turbo (an 8 ran a 15.06 today at Atco, I think it only had a Greddy exhaust)
Showing it is another option.

So do I go exhaust/turbo (by the way, would that get me into the 13's?)
Or bodykit, etc.

Hmmm..decisions...

By the way, whatever I do is just for fun...

You should completely strip it down and just have horses pull it around.

you should get an other car if you want to drag it. try a sti or evo. it is already a 13's car.

I want the Pathfiner in "Tango and Cash." It ran high tens in the quarter

Seen enough Evos + STIs this weekend, already sick of em :boring:

want a 13 sec rx8

Take it from a guy who's lived near a dragstrip all his life: it's fun about twice. There's not enough to it to keep you engrossed; it's mostly about the car. They don't even give you enough room to get it up to any impressive speed.

Autocross, if you want to get into that, is highly skill-based, and the RX-8 is a very capable autocross competitor. Lots of fun to be had there.

The most fun thing you can do in my opinion would be to join a car club and spend time at a track.

CosmosMpower 05-21-2006 10:56 PM

Autocross, it's not really that hard on your car at all mainly just tires and brakes. Plus that's where the car REALLY shines.

i dont want to void my warranty so id get a new mid pipe, then maybe some suspension upgrades.

JRichter 05-22-2006 11:10 AM

 , I say turbo if you want power out of your 8. So start saving those pennys.

8_is_enuf 05-22-2006 05:01 PM

This thred is stupid. We have no idea what your interests or budget are like, or where you live so what events or race tracks might be near you. Stupid question deserves a stupid answer, so I agree with the horses guy...

Acclaim99 05-22-2006 07:07 PM

Ok instead of saying it's stupid, just ask.

Budget is fine I have extra cash, not plenty... but next September I do get an extra 9 grand... I live in South Jersey and have easy access to Atco and E-Town.

I'm leaning towards the turbo as well....

Avalonstar 05-22-2006 07:18 PM

I'm like you in that I'm trying to find out what I want to do with the 8. Two things I've narrowed it down to are NON RICEY show car and AutoX. :)

brattesani 05-23-2006 12:11 AM

go for autoX and dont turbo the car, it just makes the engine life shorter and 8's dont really get that much out of turbo's for the money, slap on some shocks, a front swaybar and start winning b-stock at ur local autoX region.

Acclaim99 05-23-2006 12:15 AM

Actually a bit ago I obtained a Greddy kit for: $0.
Traded a couple items... talked to him on the phone... just going to finalize everything tomorrow.

It was an offer I couldn't pass up... now time to start getting the essentials... wonder if there are any other 06's turbod...
