Bought a Turbo Kit from an RX8 Club member and an AP to go with it (to clear codes) from a different club memeber! I support the economy also!

Get up in the morning, curse the work day, drink coffee and then open my garage door. The whole day changes just looking at my Baby. Get into rush hour traffic but even that is tolerable because I am in my 8. Exit at our essentially empty industrial park (all the biz closed) Take it to redline as take some great corners on the final mile to work. Love my 8 every day.

Friend took her for a spin and put her into a ditch.

Thankfully the dmg is minimal, pulls to the right a bit and the oil cooler was pushed into the wheel well and the bumper is scratched/has a hole

ZumnRx8 09-04-2010 11:32 AM

How does this always happen? I'm sure there are plenty of "I let my friend drive" stories that turn out fine, but it seems like there's an unlikely amount of stories where it ends bad. Do people just not understand how to get the feeling of a car before trying anything demanding of performance or what?

SayNoToPistons 09-04-2010 01:53 PM

Someone took a knife to one of my tires yesterday. Looks like it is time to take out the spare tire and let it sleep for at least a week :( .

Mawnee 09-04-2010 02:09 PM

I found it listed on on Autotrader by the dealer :D:

The Reverend 09-04-2010 02:20 PM

I guess in his defense he came from a scooter and a Jeep lol

Jedi54 09-04-2010 03:53 PM

And you gave him the keys to your 8, WHY?
I suddenly find myself questioning the intelligence of more then one person in this story...

No need to be a dick, sir. It's not like I went "You're going to drive my car crazy and crash it? GO FOR IT".

DocBeech 09-04-2010 07:40 PM

isnt one of the rules of the RX8 to not allow friends to drive rotary engines unless previous experienced?

He drove my RX-7 TII back before it got stolen, and he didn't fail. I think the main issue was his accelerating + he didn't know the road well enough, as it has some slight bumps on it, so I bet that was that.

Humans make mistakes.

dannobre 09-04-2010 09:11 PM

I spent 4 hours porting my irons and the oil pump inlet and outlet :)

Now I'm covered in cast iron bits and my wife is laughing at me..I look like a reverse racoon!

Bullitt 09-04-2010 09:18 PM

Put on my RB middy.
Oh, and passed inspection.

Sounds familiar.

Passed inspection yesterday, put my BHR midpipe on today.

dannobre 09-04-2010 09:54 PM

Sounds like a BHR midpipefest :)

DocBeech 09-05-2010 01:18 AM

well at least you dont have to worry about failing inspection when you only use your cat for inspection. now where to find one that wont draw attention from over powering noise...
