If Idemitsu makes a 0W-30 or 5W-30 then I am for it. 10W just increases cold start wear.

And yeah, when I see these lights, I think of bro trucks.

Put my 09 R3 into winter storage til May. Odometer reading was at 142787kms original engine. Just got oem coils and ngk spark plugs, waiting to put in next season. Couldn’t bring myself to cough up the extra $300 for BHR.

Not asking for authorization for my lamps

I hate little led lights but I do not come in here to tell off those doing things not of my liking

I don't hate them. I am more just surprised. I just don't expect an RX-8 to have these lights, I usually expect them on typical off-roaders like bro trucks, Wranglers and rally Subis.

its a joke and the wing is factory. i sold it after my car was totaled by a deer so no i wont be racing it

Just putting into winter storage now? Have you guys not gotten any snow yet in Winnipeg? That's a pretty good season if you had it on the streets till now! I find I can usually get my car out of winter storage in March then typically have to park it for a week or two after we get a spring snow storm haha. I've had mine in storage since Oct 27th and we've had snow on the ground since then.

LOL, no winter storage for me.

BC never snows very much; it's mostly just rain. I just slap on a set of winters and drive on. If the weather is good, I still drive the hell out of my car.

Hey guys quick question. How bad would it be if I disconnected the ssv temporarily to make the car run rich and induce intense back fires. Take note that when I got the car, the ssv was stuck shut and drove it around like that for a couple of months before I got around to fix it. and during that time, I produced huge flames without working the car too much. To add on to that, I have a gutted cat( not to be a menace to the environment but because my stock one was clogged and could not afford a new one). And I know that is purely aesthetic and “showoffy” (lol) but I want to end my senior year with a bang and produce huge flames during senior walkout. anyways I just want to hear what you guys think, and don’t hold anything back lol I won’t take it personal.

Gasoline is a solvent, and too much of it can wash away the oil in the housings, increasing wear.

Running rich also fouls spark plugs and front A/F sensor. You may also have carbon deposit at places you don't want it to be.

Just so you know the consequences, and if you have been running your car for a while like that, you definitely have some parts you want to replace. If you don't have a cat, just rev it up and you will have the flame, even with everything else running.

ok thanks for the feed back. After I fixed the ssv issue I replaced the spark plugs and o2 sensor which came with a hefty price tag, so wouldn’t want to wear them out more than I have to.

The SSV issue isn't what produced the flames, that would be your ignition coils, spark plugs and 02 sensor going out (and taking out your cat). Since you replaced the spark plugs, did you also replace the ignition coils? Because that's a REALLY bad condition in which to operate the car for any extended period of time.

Yeah, OEM ignition coils have well-known issues for our cars.

You either stick to OEM coils and replace every once in a while, or you buy an upgrade like BHR ignition coils and never worry about it again. Your call.

BTW, I looked up on brake pads. Seems like I should stick to semi-metallic ones as I drive spiritedly. Anything people can recommend that's not as dusty as the OEM ones?

150,000km on the odometer.

New air filter
New Oil filter
New Cabin Filter
GTX 15W40
Cleaned the MAF
Replaced slider pins in a caliper.

Car seems to start a little better and has gained a few horsepower back. The smell of raw petrol out the back seems to have gone, and the backfiring has ended.

The rust is getting in to the underbelly a little though, especially where the underseal has fallen off. It's entering its 12th year and it shows. One of the cross-bars seems to have taken a hit from a rock that then hit the petrol tank.

The engine's the only thing still solid on this think.

Wash day for me. I love this car, but it's going to put me in the poor house lol. I couldn't imagine my life without one so I'm going to keep dedicating my funds to the rx8 lifestyle.

Did I mention that I love this car...

Just got my biennial coolant flush and brake fluid replacement. And put on winter wheels/tires.

I was having a hard time finding a place to store it, as in do not have a garage at home. Planning on getting the car back end of April, here’s my list of winter goals:

Got my LRB speed aluminum undertray modified to relocate and flat mount the AC condenser for improved airflow to the radiator and also got the two replacement RKE modules/antennas that MAZDA IDS was having issues with and once I get my new computer setup with the new version of IDS I should be able to reprogram the car and actually be able to start it! :D (but I won't get my hopes up though, I'm sure something else that's small, stupid and hard as ***** to figure out will get in the way)

Since my car didn't come with an undertray, I installed the full LRB aluminum unit. It took way longer than I expected, but it looks awesome. It also rattles a bit, though I imagine it will be audible from in the car. Does the plastic OE piece have side scoops similar to the LRB unit?

Hi
I have been getting a p0661 intake tuning valve low voltage code so I am usually messing with the intake system. Today I took the ssv valve and solenoid out again. Cleaning and testing them, from the female connector for the ssv valve I got a reading of 12.3v with a multi meter. While the connector for the ssv solenoid read 12.03v. The SSV valve passed the vacuum test as well as the solenoid. The SSV valve switch (N3H4-18-9B1) however had an ohm reading of 0.6 at the lowest. I believe that is the root of my P0661. Put her back together and made some noise on the road.

I also programmed some new key fobs. Almost forgot.
