What did you do with your RX8 today?

In my case I used the original gasket. I cleaned it up (fixed a crack) using silicone glue to make sure it was tight all around. There is one lamp that has an opening that you have to seal to keep water out. I spent a lot of time trying to get the inside clean (And not break it apart to get at it) I ended up using distilled water and rinsing it out a few times then I let it dry in the sun. I'm kind of disapointed with whoever designed these tail lights.
I checked mine in a large cooler full of water just to be sure, and it was airtight.
I'm thinking maybe they had more than one supplier.

RX8 Backfire dumb question
So while at work today some of the guys asked me to start the car up give it a review you know .. that fun stuff anyhow I let it warm up revd it up a bit, and the usual Backfire happens, one of the guys go awe man that soundnt pop like that... I'm thinking to myself surely that's normal for a rotary I've seen plenty of videos where it happens often but to be honest this is MY first rotary powered car since day one it's done it but now that the new exhaust is on it happens alot more often (doesn't bother me) but the guy made me question the health of the car runs fine drives fine idles fine ... so here I am asking is it healthy for it to back fire ... oh and I constantly see flames fireballs whatever you want to call them from videos online and I thought that was caused by a decat pipe because of excess fuel igniting when it hits the air again.. this is my first rotary my uncle had a FD when I was young and since then I've been hooked. Just want to make sure it's nothing to worry about or if I should have the car taken a look at again I'm asking here because I'd like to belive the experts (the rx community ) over someone at work or the lovely dealership lol

Went to install Progressive rear sway bar with new end links as the end links are frozen to the stock sway bar. Used a grinder on both end links and while in the process of removing the sway bar bushings, 1 of the welded studs snapped off.
The studs are welded to the mount for the bushings, so now I need to figure out how to fix this.
Anybody have any suggestions???

Installed my Spirit R front seats
Temporarily installed my Spirit R recaros just so they're not laying around til I take them to be restored and repaired. I sat in the seats right after installing and they are absolutely perfect and probably the most comfortable stock car seats i've ever sat in and the red leather on them is absolutely stunning as well (I really do need to replace my door panels though, the red in the seats and the red on the door panels together just look weird lol)

This is 100% completely normal. I'd be more worried if your exhaust wasn't popping.... and yes flames are very possible when the exhaust gets hot, even with a perfectly fine working cat.

Looks good dude! I got the same going but on an S1, all genuine MS kit minus spoiler and rear diffuser. Just bought the sideskirts last week off another forum member... just need to get them painted/installed as soon as my car comes out of winter storage.

Awesome, I like the MS skirts, but I like the R3 skirts a lot more so I just painted them like MS skirts to match the rest of the kit and also not sure what you meant but mine is an S1 also

More speedy mazda stuffz:D
My mazdaspeed brake lines came in today and they came in a fancy RE-Amemiya box too lol
Idk if these really make any difference at all or if they're just more durable, but hey it's OEM, says mazdaspeed on it and they were only $150 shipped, so no complaints from me lol
*Mazdaspeed clutch line on the way too

Life After 8K RPM....
Got a very special delivery today Can't wait to repaint the sides and touch up a few flawed spots, but now I have a complete OEM mazdaspeed exterior panel kit (with exception of OEM R3 skirts and Carbon mazdaspeed wing)
I still envy your front bumper purchase in a good way :-) but am glad how this whole thing is working out for you, once it's all said and done, your car will look awesome :-)

It's perfectly normal. Mine used to pop with stock catback. But its alot more evident with ExoticSpeed exhaust, pops alot more with BHR midpipe vs my gutted cat.
For engine health, get a compression test done :-)
And don't let others stress you about your car, 85% of the times people have no idea what they talking about when it comes to a Rotary car :-)

Finally finished installing a Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS I picked up a while back on mega clearance for dirt cheap. Most complicated audio install ever!
And then to top it off, I never realized there was a difference between AppRadio and AppRadio One. So here I thought I would be able to use Waze on the head unit, but this head unit has AppRadio One which doesn't support screen mirroring, something required to do it. *&#! Oh well, now I'm on the hunt for a good deal on one of the newer NEX units that can do Carplay/Android Auto and has full AppRadio, and I'll install this one in my wife's car. She doesn't care about all that stuff, she just wants to listen to music on her phone.

Finally removed the old POS engine I bought because it came from a running car and turned out to have low compression. Rotors look decent, front and rear irons are good, housings are done, one side of the intermediate iron needs to be lapped and rotor bearings are bad, but not spun. $1500 down the drain but should at least be able to make some of my money back. On the bright side though, I now know that buying my R3 donor car and doing my complete S2 drivetrain swap on my S1 was definitely the right move https://www.rx8club.com/rotary-swaps...-my-s1-261187/
*Last pic is how the car is sitting now (huge mess I know, but that's what extremely limited space to rebuild an entire car looks like I guess lol)
