totally with ya, JGH! Got mine last Monday. I am watching for the rumored flooding problem, the lug nut at 108 torque, that's about it. I avoid shutoff if not warmed up a little. Oh yeah, I'm also watching that problem about chicks that want to drive it. Just say no.

I received mine last Friday. Nobody touch my RX-8 not even my wife.

The wife

lol. Im with you's on that one.........but

I had to let the wife try it last night. And whats worse is she dont know how to drive stick!!!!!!!

Im aware of the flooding problem, thus she gets one stall per lesson :).

NO ONE else will ever drive my baby :)))) To much drive time for me to spare!!!!

On the serious side, i have a question about the oil type.
I know "NO SYNTHETIC OILS".

I have a bottle of "Castrol GTX 5W-30" is this ok?
It does not say one way or the other if its synthetic.?

5W-30 I hear is fine to use. Its the synthic part im worried about.

Thanks guys. Gotta go drive now.........somewhere......:)!!!!!!!!

Tamas 02-29-2004 12:54 PM

Castrol GTX is not synthetic.

JGHRX8 02-29-2004 12:55 PM

...and 2-1/2 months later, you will still think "what a car"!!!!!

Maximus 02-29-2004 09:47 PM

JGHRX8,
Castrol GTX should be fine but why don't you get 5W-20 which is the recommended oil for RX8?

Regards,
Max.

JD32 03-01-2004 04:48 AM

Yeah I was told by MNAO that they only recommend 5W-20 but no specific brand. I called because with all the various opinions on here I decided to get it straight from them. Bottom line is use 5W-20.:D

Give the keys to the chicks. You will feel better in the long run : )

what is the lug nut at 108 torque issue? Is that another to add to the list of worries  Haven't read anything about that one.

I read this service bulletin posted 2/23/04 in my VIN range, which hopefully isn't a bull-etin!
